Driving enthusiasts looking for a rear-drive Subaru only have one choice, the 2023 Subaru BRZ two-door coupe. The BRZ is not the top-selling model for Subaru of America (SOA), but it tops the charts in one important area, the percentage of sales increase month over month.
Subaru of America reported the BRZ sports car sales for June 2023 increased 97.9 percent over the same month in 2022, the most of any Subaru nameplate. Compared to June 2022, year to date, the BRZ carline posted an increase of 51 percent compared to the same period in 2022—the second most of any Subaru nameplate.
Subaru's performance cars are performing well. The WRX sports car was the top model at a 147.5 percent increase compared with the first six months of 2022.
"With a strong first half of 2023 in the rearview, we're well-positioned to continue our sales growth and meet the demand for vehicles that speak to the lifestyles and needs of our customers," said Troy Poston, Senior Vice President of Sales.
SOA reported its retailers delivered 382 BRZ sports cars to customers in June 2023, compared with 193 sold in June 2022. That's the 97.9 percent increase to lead all nameplates in SOA's lineup.
Subaru of America sold 2,512 BRZ models in the first six months of the year compared with 1,663 through six months in 2022. That's the 51.1 percent increase year to date.
What's next for the BRZ? New upgrades are coming.

Subaru Corporation announced that the Japan-specification 2023 BRZ will be the first Subaru vehicle to get the next-generation EyeSight safety technology adapted to fit a 6-speed manual transmission.
Until now, Subaru has not spent the resources to make the new technology available, but the BRZ will be the first. Subaru will likely give the U.S.-specification 2024 BRZ the new manual transmission technology, with the WRX performance sports car to follow.

I bought a 2023 BRZ manual 6 spd. My last 3 cars have been 2 1997 M3’s and a 1998 M3. I love the e-36 m3’s. It was hard what car to get next. I looked at many. I am very happy with the BRZ. It is light and responsive. And NEW! I still have a m3 it now has over 240k miles, still fun to drive. Can the BRZ get to 240k miles and still be fun? I’m going to try and see.
