If only Subaru had three more models just like it.
The Crosstrek, a standout in Subaru's all-wheel-drive lineup, is a force to be reckoned with. It's set to claim the top-selling model spot for SOA in 2024, with its unbeatable performance becoming more evident as the end of the year draws closer.
As my title says, the Subaru Crosstrek is on fire, and no one can extinguish the flames. Check out the report from Subaru of America (SOA).
The Camden, N.J. automaker reports the third-generation 2024 Crosstrek has its best November ever, and it's on pace to have a record for the year.
If Subaru had three more models as hot as the Crosstrek, the Camden, N.J. automaker would be hitting a new all-time sales performance record in 2024. Check out my report here for more details.
It's more of the same for the Crosstrek.
Subaru of America says, "Crosstrek achieved its best November ever with 16,948 vehicles sold, a 13 percent increase compared to November 2023, and its fifth month in a row as the top performer by volume."
The Crosstrek's dominance is undeniable, with 164,723 models delivered to customers in the first 11 months of 2024. This represents a 14.9 percent increase for the year, leaving the closest competitor, the Forester, with a slim chance of catching up.
It's now a five-month trend.
The new Forester will be nearly impossible to return to the top spot after a five-month sales slide, taking it out of contention for SOA's top-sales leader.
Crosstrek is firmly ahead of the Outback.
The Outback is the other model that's close to Crosstrek in sales. SOA has delivered 153,886 Outbacks to its U.S. customers, putting the midsize SUV 10,837 models behind the Crosstrek.
What makes the Crosstrek so popular? It's a combination of factors that create a perfect storm for the model's success.
There are three reasons why it's a perfect storm for the Crosstrek right now.
The Crosstrek is priced well for the current economic climate. The price point fits many small SUV customer's budgets.
Here's the latest on the 2025 Crosstrek pricing, now available at retailers.
- Base - $27,115
- Premium - $28,365
- Sport - $30,915
- Limited - $32,815
- Wilderness - $33,915
2. The Crosstrek fits the active lifestyle of many buyers.
The Crosstrek is not just a vehicle, it's a lifestyle choice. It's designed for those with the most active lifestyles, who see the small SUV as more than just a commuter or grocery getter. It's a ticket to escape the city noise and discover secluded, quiet places on the weekends.
3. The Crosstrek Wilderness takes it to another level.
The all-new Crosstrek Wilderness trim is for taking customers away from the city lights and further off the grid. Check out my Wilderness trim level report here for more information.
Conclusion:
After one more month, the Crosstrek will be the undisputed sales volume leader in 2024. It's not only SOA's top-selling model; it's the best subcompact SUV you can find anywhere.

In July, I bought our 20th Subaru, a 2024 Crosstrek, after having sold my 2017 Legacy 3.6R. Having in my possession hp/torque charts of both the STI (which we had two of) and the 3.6R, we can see that they are quite close. I would suggest to Subaru to bring back the STI with the 3.6 engine, naturally aspirated or not. I would buy one RIGHT AWAY!

My 2024 Crosstrek Limited is a pleasure to own and drive. It is well built, handles very well, and has a great list of dependable features, except for the fact that no heated steering wheel was available in the USA. I highly recommend it.

Oh no... I'm not kidding when I say that no heated steering wheel is a deal-breaker for me. Having that wonderful feature now makes it impossible to give up. Along with HUD and 360 cameras, that is something I will never be without again. Too bad.

Bought my 2024 Crosstrek a month ago and immediately drove across the country with it - 2600 miles later and I'm more in love with it - it handles great, lets me drive on the dirt easily, and has all the features I could ever want - I am a happy customer, indeed!

I Purchased my 2024 Crosstrek in September 2023. The comfort, ride, and all-wheel-drive capability are superior. One morning I wanted to get out of my driveway after a 2 foot snowstorm combined with a 30 inch windrow at the end of the driveway. My Crosstrek got me out easily using X mode. I have owned a Subaru for at least 30 years and each of my four brothers and sisters own at least one Subaru.

My 4th Subi & 3rd Crosstrek, got the Wilderness & absolutely love it. I'm in Western North Carolina & this is the perfect car for two retired adults & our small dog. Last one was a 21 Sport & I wanted the Startex seats again, besides I needed tires ;)

We bought my 2024 Crosstrek Limited in October. I'm replacing a 2018 Honda HRV.
I absolutely love my 1st Subaru. It feels so solid and the engine has great pep. It handles beautifully and is a smooth ride.
I enjoy having the large infotainment screen that displays Google maps and most of the climate controls. It's very easy to use.
The bright headlights that turn when going around the corner make driving at night much easier. The backup camera and safety features are so helpful.
I have plenty of storage in the console area and a nice size space in the door that holds a tall water bottle. This is possible due to the clever angled design of the door armrest.
The car has what I would call a dressy, sporty style. Comfortably, elegant.

Furthermore, because we have this vehicle, these roads (less traveled) are possible.

It's great Iove it, but Subaru uses soy based covered wires, and I've just recently found out my month old 2024 Crosstrek onyx has extensive rodent damage.
It can be claimed in my insurance, but the inconvenience of not having it for the last month has been upsetting.

I chose the 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness as my daily driver for many reasons, but the higher ground clearance won't scrape on anything, the awd will take me anywhere, and the optional stereo absolutely cranks! I took it to Joshua Tree National Park on Saturday and it was the perfect vehicle to be in. I'm getting 25 mpg overall and I couldn't be happier.

First Subaru was our 2018 Legacy which was purchased after driving a Legacy rental. My wife was adamant about never owning an SUV. I wanted the Forester in the beginning but she finally agreed to the Crosstrek. Bought the Limited edition in July, 2024 and could not be happier about the decision. At 75 years old, I love this "Suburb". It handles well, has the acceleration needed at times and is very comfortable to drive. Best of all, my wife likes it too!

I purchased the new ‘2024 Crosstrek a year ago. It was hard to beat the guarantee trade offer from Subaru on the 2021 Crosstrek I owned, both in the Limited trim.
I actually regret trading in my ‘21. I liked the styling better on the ‘21 than the ‘24 & have had issues with the new 11.5” screen.
The GPS needed an update within a month of purchase, it doesn’t work as well with my phone & the buttons on the steering wheel are slow to respond at times.
I also thought the engine, though they are the same 2.5, was more responsive in the ‘21. It was more fun to drive.
The fit of the hood & doors was also better on the ‘21. Much larger gaps on the ‘24. The black plastic trim pieces on the wheel wells aren’t symmetrical on the ‘24 as they were on the ‘21. Not a fan of the mirrors & roof antenna that no longer color match the car.

I just recently purchased the 2024 Subaru Wilderness and I really like the looks of the Crosstrek and having the extra lower side molding on the Wilderness I should not have to worry about door dents. The seats are very comfortable and the ride inside is very quiet and smooth. The one thing that I didn’t pay attention to on the Wilderness model was the difference in the lower gas mileage compared to all the rest of the Crosstrek models.

I've bought the new 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness and it's great here in the Yukon. Wet, slushy snow, deep snow, off road, road trips, towing our camper, it has never failed. X mode works awesome in all conditions. Lots of space for 4 adults, even a 6'3" friend in the front. Comfortable with heated seats, and beat yet, heated steering wheel. The centre console could be a little better, a bit quicker in reacting.

Hopefully Subaru will not repeat their past mistake of allowing quality to lapse in order to meet high sales demand. They are just recovering from that short-sighted thinking.
