What does Consumer Reports say about the new 2024 Crosstrek?
CR says, "The Subaru Crosstrek is one of the most researched cars on ConsumerReports.org, and for good reason: It delivers an excellent ride, good fuel economy, standard all-wheel drive, and enough ground clearance for mild off-roading all in a reasonably sized and priced package. We wish the base engine didn't feel so feeble or get so loud, but otherwise, the well-rounded Crosstrek is currently the highest-scoring subcompact SUV."

"We expect the 2024 Crosstrek will be much more reliable than the average new car. This prediction is based on data from the 2024 model."
Crosstrek's overall score is #1 of 9 Subcompact SUVs in the Consumer Reports ranking.
How does the Subaru Crosstrek compare with the competition? The Crosstrek is far and above more reliable than every compact SUV.
- 2024 Subaru Crosstrek predicted reliability is the top at 99/100.

Jeep and VW at, or near the bottom, as always. Some things never change.

This is good news for Impreza owners too, since a Crosstrek and an Impreza are the same car, minus the flare.

Is the Crosstrek all -new. I doubt same unreliable motor and trans. The boxer motor troublesome as is cooling system. Cvt trans lol. CR is a joke. You can donate to magazine and get a better rating. I worked at a appliance repair company. I would see a model be at the top then the next year it moved down, then 2 yrs later it was back at the top.

I disagree! I have a 2017 subaru crosstrek with the 2.0 boxer. Have had absolutely no problems with this vehicle other than normal maintenance. Just rolled ove 146,000 miles and still runs like a champ. It's been such an awesome vehicle experience that we just bought a 2024. BTW I don't make any contributions to magazines and no magazine makes any contributions to me.

I find things like this comical. The entire subaru lineup consists of only a few mechanical differences. Other than that they are all the same. The same few engines attached to the same few transmissions stuffed into the same global platform with the same infotainment and tech inside. The only variable is the appearance. The BRZ is the only truly unique model with RWD, its own engine and transmission. So to say there is so much variance in their reliability just because the body panels are different is comical. Good old CR. I feel sorry for those who pay for their "insight".

That's because the BRZ is a Toyota. Consumer Reports is the real joke because they promote the highest bidder. The simple fact remains that Subarus are absolute garbage and if you want the most reliable vehicles on the planet, you buy a Toyota or Lexus.

As a service advisor that has been with both Subaru and Toyota, each for years, Subarus cost less to maintain from 50k-200k than Toyota by a good margin. I can also tell you that the BRZ is right POS and nobody that drives them are car people, they might think they are, but why would you buy a BRZ rather than a Toyota 86? Both are stupid cars made to catch the attention of silver spoon young people who's parents by then something cool looking. Even though no one owns a BRZ we seem to get them in all the time for major problems with steering racks, fuel pumps, gearbox failure, loss of power steering, and backfiring.
The Crosstrek and Forester's mechanical design has a slightly more streamline and less technology involved than the Outback and others, which is why they legitimately do have quantifiably better reliability.

I'm a 2017 Suburu Legacy owner for 3 1/2 years now. It's a solid car with good drivability and field of vision, overall mileage is ok, a bit heavy in town though. This car has had it's problems, nothing major but somewhat irritating like ignition key wouldn't come out, ignition cylinder replaced under a Suburu bulletin warning, premature rust on trunk lid, not under warranty, $725, battery bulletin, battery replaced at half cost, $185, infotainment system freezing, software glitch, covered by Suburu and parking brake glitch, under recall warranty. Suburu isn't very forthcoming with some of their issues so I found out from other sources and when you bring them forward they aren't always wanting to help you, they try to slough you off. The car has 61,000 kms on it so I'm trying to keep this vehicle as it's the devil you know kind of scenario being that these issues are in the past and I'm hopeful nothing else comes up, we'll see. Overall I like the all wheel drive and the boxster engine, the interior is above some other vehicles and the instrumentation and fobs are easy to understand, the dash is not too busy with a lot of techno crap.
