Tesla Cybertruck Owner Says, “We Are Officially Saying Goodbye To Our Cybertruck, Tesla Is Buying It Back Because It Has So Many Problems”

Does Tesla have a buyback program for the Cybertruck and other models? Ashley says that she and her partner purchased a new Cybertruck, and Tesla is repurchasing it because it has so many problems. Here is what Tesla owners need to know.

“We are officially saying goodbye to our Tesla Cybertruck.”

That’s what Ashley Janell (@ajlovescheese) says in her TikTok video. The Cybertruck was her partner’s dream truck, but when it had so many problems, they decided to give it back to Tesla. She says they love the truck and didn’t want to part ways, but it has to go.

Does Tesla have a buyback program for the Cybertruck and other models? Here is what Tesla owners need to know. First, here is Ashley’s story.

Ashley says,

“We are officially saying goodbye to our Tesla Cybertruck. It’s bitter, sweet. We have to take the Navy Blue wrap off before we take it back. My partner just took off the light bar that he installed.”

She affectionately pats the truck and says, I’m sorry this is happening to you, buddy.”

“Our friends and neighbors are probably saying, Oh, thank god they are getting rid of it. We had to get an attorney, and a lot of drama surrounded it. Tesla has to give us back the whole amount we paid for the Cybertruck.”

“My partner is really sad because this was his dream truck, and unfortunately, it has some issues, and we were lucky enough to get rid of it. We wouldn’t have been able to take a huge financial hit. That is happening, and the attorney is taking care of it.”

Tesla Buyback or Lemon Law?

She continues, “If you are having issues with your Cybertruck, definitely look into the buyback program before it hits 24,000 miles for the Lemon Law. Because some with lower VINs, like ours, were sent out with a lot of problems. You don’t need to pay $100K for a truck that is not working properly.”

Tesla Approves the Buyback

“We are in the middle of buying a house, and that would not have worked out. We are thankful that Tesla approved the buyback of our truck.”

What’s the Problem with the Cybertruck?

Ashley points out the main issue with the Cybertruck's interior.

"The primary problem with the Cybertruck lies within. There are multiple microphones in this truck, including one underneath the seats, under the dash, and another above the rearview mirror.”

“The problem is one of them kept going out and stopped working. So, we brought it in four times because it kept going out. Normally, when you press the button on the steering wheel, you can say something like “Play Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter.” Then it says searching for media.”

“It’s also part of the Bluetooth with your phone when driving, which was another issue. It was not working, and that was a potential safety issue.”

What’s Wrong With the Outside?

On the outside of the truck, Ashley shows the top of the truck.

“We had to get the top glass replaced because there were divots in it. That was a structural problem.”

She walks to the rear of the truck.

“Then there are also cosmetic issues. For instance, a small rubber o-ring type thing on the truck bed’s cover was leaking and letting water get into the bed. So that was another thing we had to get fixed.”

“There weren’t a lot of issues, but they were enough to qualify for a Lemon Law issue. We are still waiting on the paperwork, but it’s like we brought it in four times, and it’s gone on now.”

Does Tesla Have a Buyback Program?

It's important to note that Tesla does not have an official “buyback program” as Ashley discusses. However, Tesla does offer a lease buyout program and trade-in values for its vehicles.

Lease buyouts

Tesla says, “If you’re looking to return your vehicle and upgrade before the end of your lease, we offer several options to end your lease early. Depending on how long you have left on your lease, your payment status, and other factors, you may be eligible for an early lease termination or a lease transfer.”

Trade-ins

  • Trade-in values for Tesla vehicles are based on vehicle configuration, history, mileage, and age.
  • Trade-in offers expire after 30 days or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first.

What Is the Lemon Law Buyback?

According to Lemon Law Now, if a lemon law case is won:

  • Tesla (the manufacturer) may repurchase the vehicle and compensate the owner for the down payment, monthly payments, registration, and other damages
  • A Tesla Lemon Law lawyer can be contacted for assistance.

Final Thoughts and Questions For Tesla Cybertruck Owners

Ashley and her partner consulted a Lemon Law attorney, and Tesla has agreed to repurchase their Cybertruck due to multiple defects.

They purchased one of the first Cybertrucks manufactured by Tesla, claiming the electric automaker was still working out the initial problems of the electric truck.

It’s common for an all-new model to have issues as the manufacturer is still working out some of the initial model issues.

Was one of the first to plop down $500 for a deposit on a new Tesla Truck Long Before Elon Moved to Texas. After a year or so with no Truck I got my deposit back. Elon had moved here to Texas and the Madness had started taking him over. I'm glad I got my money back. Still driving my 1999 Ford Pickemup. Elon has since become a self-admitted Drug addict and owner of an Compound in Central Texas full of women and his children. Now he has taken it upon himself to Bribe his way into the Whitehouse and bring down America. Tesla needs to fire his butt as the Whales are bailing. Maybe I'll buy a wrecked Tesla drive train and swap it out on my truck.

Musk has no problem resorting to personal attacks. He made himself a public figure, he's the richest man in the world. He acts like a spoiled child and is completely disconnected from regular people's reality. He's earned all the criticism he gets.

My daughter is going through the Lemon Law with her 2 year old Kia ans it hasn't made the news and no one has written a single article about it. I guess it pays to buy a Tesla because if there is any problem with it it makes national news. A pretty good perk I'd say.

The Cybertruck is just a dumb vehicle. It can't even go through a carwash without issues. Stainless steel looks awful after a while exposed to driving through the elements, you know like an automobile is supposed to be built to do.
Towing specs are scarily over stated and dangerous, if your tongue weight is at maximum rating and you hit a bad bump the thin aluminum casting can and has just broke off the whole back end! Not designed well at all!
Stay away would be the smart thing to do.
I bought from a different EV manufacturer because the unpredictability of Tesla warranty coverage is also very sketchy!

I'm sure a million people are asking the same thing.., Why did you buy it in the first place? Especially the first of a New series! Never, ever, buy the first series of anything!!
"Gotta have it before anyone else in the neighborhood!" Its Foolish², now they all chuckle at you...
Why all you folks wholeheartedly supported this Lego looking box of strange and ill-fitting parts, in the first place, is beyond me. Didn't you ask yourself...,"Is this thing really worth 100k or more?
Any idea the quality of vehicle you Can get for 100k? There's many, but not from Tesla. Just the way it is.

How is this even news?
Get rid of your vehicle you hate, maybe you'll find something that will fill that special place in your heart.

What a poorly written story. It doesn’t matter what this is about because I don’t think many readers will ever find out. I couldn’t get past the third paragraph it is so badly written. Wow. Bless you. Inverted pyramid people. Learn it. Dang.
