The Updated Complete New Subaru Model Guide And What’s Coming This Year

Because of microchip shortages, supply chain issues, and plant closures, all new 2023 Subaru models like the Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek SUVs will be delayed. Here is a rundown of each new model and when customers can expect to see them in Subaru of America's showrooms.

The next-generation Subaru WRX is the next new 2022 model to arrive. It's coming this spring with new upgrades. The new WRX was announced last year and should have made its dealer launch last fall, but delays pushed it to this spring. The WRX STI is even further behind and will skip a model year. The next-generation STI will arrive early next year as a 2023 model.

What is the price of the 2022 WRX?

The 2022 WRX comes in four trim levels: Base, Premium, Limited, and new GT. The 2022 WRX base 6-speed manual trim level starts at $30,100. The WRX with Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT) is $31,950, WRX Premium 6-speed manual is $32,600, WRX Premium SPT is $34,650, WRX Limited 6-speed manual is $36,990, WRX Limited SPT is $39,240, and WRX GT is $42,890. Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($995).

The next-generation WRX gets a significant price bump over the outgoing model. The base WRX jumps $1,680, WRX Premium +$1,630, and the WRX Limited +$3,970. The top GT trim is new for 2022 and is close to $43,000.

2023 Subaru Solterra

The 2023 Subaru Solterra is the automaker's first-ever all-electric global vehicle and arrives in the U.S. in June or July 2022. The Solterra will be the Japanese automaker's most significant new model since the Crosstrek and Ascent models.

The Solterra compact SUV moves Subaru into the new era of all-electric all-wheel-drive SUVs, and it's built at Toyota's factory in Japan. Subaru opened up its reservation system for the Solterra on February 8, and it will remain open until February 28. Subaru has not released pricing on the new Solterra. 2023 Subaru Outback

The 2023 Outback, in the fourth year of their life cycle, will get a refresh. Subaru typically gives its models a refresh with a new front fascia outside (headlights, bumper, hexagon grille) and unique interior upgrades with fabric changes inside, and a new exterior color. The midsize SUV will also get new safety technology. New models should arrive in the late summer of 2022 but could be delayed until fall. Check out more details here.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek

The all-new next-generation Crosstrek will arrive in late 2022. The 2023 Crosstrek will get a complete remodel, and customers in North America will get a new Crosstrek Wilderness rugged model to fill out the new sub-brand. The Crosstrek Wilderness is scheduled to make its dealer launch in early 2023. Check out more details here.

2023 Subaru Ascent

The Ascent is in its fourth year and skipped any upgrades for 2022 models. Subaru's Ascent 3-Row SUV is now scheduled to refresh and arrives in the second half of 2022 as a 2023 model. Like the Outback, it will get a new front fascia outside (headlights, bumper, hexagon grille) and unique interior upgrades with fabric changes inside, and a new exterior color. Reports not confirmed by Subaru say the Ascent could get a Wilderness trim level but would arrive after the 2023 model year.

2023 Subaru Impreza

The 2023 Subaru Impreza also gets a complete redesign. The next-generation 2023 Impreza will likely come with the new EyeSight X driver-assist safety technology. Recent reports not confirmed by Subaru say the compact car could get a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. The all-new Impreza will arrive in early 2023.

2023 Subaru Legacy

Also, like the Outback, the 2023 Legacy will be in the fourth year of its life cycle. Look for the sedan's refresh to include a new front fascia outside (headlights, bumper, hexagon grille) and unique interior upgrades with fabric changes inside, and a new exterior color. New models could arrive in the late summer of 2022 but will likely be delayed until this fall.

2023 Subaru Forester and BRZ

The 2023 Subaru Forester compact SUV and 2023 BRZ sports coupe will remain relatively unchanged. The Forester gets a complete remodel for the 2024 model year. 2023 Forester and BRZ models are scheduled to arrive this summer but will likely be pushed back until the fall of 2022.
