It was the first return for Travis Pastrana after a seven-year absence from Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR) in June. It didn’t turn out good.
Day one started out good for Pastrana as he won the first stage, but on stage two, his 2016 Subaru WRX STI went off the course. Pastrana and Edstrom lost nearly thirty minutes getting the car back on the road. Higgins and Drew attacked and took the lead in their 2016 Subaru WRX STI.
On the first stage of day two (SS5 – Asaph), Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom went off the course and rolled his #199 WRX STI. He was unable to continue because of damage to the STI. Pastrana and Edstrom were pushing a bit too hard to climb their way back up the standings. They were also battling with Nitro Circus cohort Street Bike Tommy.
You can download the free Subaru Motorsports app (Android, iOS) and play the 360º video to experience an exclusive, and world’s first, peer-thru 360º-view of Pastrana’s #199 WRX STI rally car roll. After all the chaos, Pastrana and Edstrom were safe inside the protected roll cage.
Travis Pastrana and David Higgins will be at Ojibwe Forests Rally later this week. How will Pastrana perform after rolling his 2016 Subaru WRX STI rally car? Stay tuned.
