Would Your 81 Year-Old Grandma Drive a 305hp WRX STI? [Video]

How many 81-year-old women drive a 305hp performance car? Check out Michalina Borowczyk-Jadrzejek from Poland. This lady lives on a pension of 504 euros per month and found a way to buy a new 2016 Subaru WRX STI. That’s pretty awesome and we applaud this retired woman who likes to drive her STI on the streets of Katowice, Poland.

TVN Turbo interviewed the 81-year-old as she drove and shifted the 6-speed WRX STI for the piece you can check out here. Apparently, Michalina saved up her Euros for 13 years until she had enough money to make her dream come true. According to the video, before she bought the WRX STI, the 81 year-old owned several Opels, a BMW, and a Mazda.

She’s always been fascinated by fast cars

Michalina, has always been fascinated by fast cars. After retirement, she was able to indulge herself and bought the rally-bred STI, even though the performance sedan costs 46,000 Euros ($50,462 US) in Poland. Michalina likes to change those six gears herself. “This car has a soul, a heart and unlike other cars, it got me hooked,” she told Nowa Ramowka of TVN Turbo.

The STI gets driven

The Subaru WRX STI doesn’t sit in her garage much either. The 81-year-old grandma drives her STI up to 15,000 kilometers (9,320 miles) per year, most of them by driving to Czestochowa, Krakow, and Wroclaw and back home to Katowice, Poland. It’s a perfect climate for the all-wheel-drive performance car and we bet she feels safe in it.

We can also bet the 305hp 2016 Subaru WRX STI keeps this 81-year-old woman feeling young at heart. What a great example for other seniors as this retiree had a dream and then went after it. Just because you are older, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. We applaud Michalina!
