A Tesla Cybertruck Owner Shows His Truck Developing a Distinct Rust Line After It Was Keyed – He Gets Unexpected Back Lash From Tesla Fans Who Say the Cybertruck is Immune to Corrosion

A Tesla Cybertruck owner reports a noticeable rust line appearing on his truck after it was keyed. However, he encounters unexpected criticism from Tesla enthusiasts who think the Cybertruck is immune to rust.

Alejandro Quiroga is a Cybertruck owner from Dallas, Texas, and says his truck was recently keyed.

This is bad enough, and I should add a crime; however, making matters worse, Alejandro says his truck developed a distinct rust line where the truck was keyed.

The frustrated Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Tesla CyberTruck group on Facebook.

He writes…

“Fun fact: when your Cybertruck gets Keyed, it turns into a rust line.”

Alejandro then proceeds to inquire from the Cybertruck community if it’s possible to remove the rust line.

He writes…

“Any ideas on how to remove it?”

Below his post, Alejandro shared a picture of his Cybertruck showing a straight, thin, yellowish-brown rust line running across the stainless steel door.

Looking at the comments, the first thing people wanted to know was if Alejandro has a video of the person keying his Cybertruck.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Christopher Micallef, asks…

“Do you have a video of it getting keyed?

However, in response, Alejandro says he was not able to capture the perpetrator during the act, writing…

“no, I had Sentry Mode turned off.”

This is bad enough; however, Alejandro has received significant pushback from people who do not believe his story.

At this point, you might think that those casting doubt on Alejandro’s story are Tesla detractors. However, surprisingly, the most skeptical people regarding Alejandro’s claims are Tesla fans.

The majority of division within the Tesla community arises from Cybertruck fans who believe the truck’s stainless steel cannot rust and others who argue that while the truck typically won’t corrode, it could if it’s keyed.

A Tesla enthusiast in the “The Cybertruck’s stainless steel can’t rust” category, Erik M. Huerta, writes…

“Good stainless can't rust. It gets a line or swirls in it, but then you can buff it out depending on the depth.

The only way stainless will rust is if you give it an electrolysis with sodium chloride, for example.”

This is a bold statement in support of the Cybertruck; however, fellow Tesla fan Jeana Kaplan Rawa disagrees with this assertion.

Jeana writes…

"Yes, stainless steel can rust. In this case, the corrosion on the Cybertruck’s stainless steel happened because of the metal or iron transferred from the key."

If they don't stop the deterioration it will cause the stainless to start rusting.

The protection oxygen layer has been compromised from the scratch.”

However, another Tesla fan in the “The Cybertruck’s stainless steel can’t rust” camp writes…

“It's NOT rust...It’s iron oxide caused by the rain.”

In response, a fellow Cybertruck owner, who wishes to avoid casting doubt on Alejandro’s claim that his truck began to rust after being keyed, replies by writing…

“oxidized iron is rust.”

Overall, looking at the comments, it’s interesting to see the divide between those who believe the Cybertruck is immune to corrosion and those who feel compelled to support a fellow owner who fell victim to an act of vandalism.
