Following the delivery event on June 10, and after a long wait, Tesla has finally started delivering the Model S Plaid to customers.
The vehicle has been a smash hit among Tesla enthusiasts and gear heads alike. And with the incredible performance and unrivaled tech inside the Plaid Model S, it’s no surprise.

And now as the end of the second quarter looms, Tesla is calling Bay Area Residents with a Model S Plaid Plus reservation, and the EV maker is offering them priority delivery of a Model S Plaid.
No surprise here but I’ve heard from multiple sources that Tesla is calling Bay Area plaid+ reservations holders and offering them priority delivery of Plaid S for the end of quarter push. Deliveries are mostly being focused in CA to not waste time shipping.— Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt) June 27, 2021
This is customary for Tesla as the company currently only has 2 car manufacturing sites in the world and does not want vehicles in transit to drag down its bottom line for the quarterly report.
In my opinion, this should not matter as analysts should be able to take into account vehicles in transit to determine the company’s profitability.
However, Wallstreet for some reason is fixated on Tesla’s quarterly numbers as a result the EV maker has been forced to adopt a delivery strategy where it ships vehicles produced early in the quarter out to faraway countries and concentrates deliveries by the end of the quarter in the US, or even more specifically in areas close to its Fremont California plant.
However, with Giga Berlin construction almost complete and support the factory is getting from the local government, Brandenburg State Environmental Minister even going so far as to say “it’s right to give Tesla preferential treatment”, the issue of transit delivery delays should not be a concern for long.

Nevertheless, this will be a great opportunity for Bay Area Plaid Plus Model S reservation holders as this means they will be able to get their hands on the quickest production vehicles in the world, which can accelerate faster than simply falling down, sooner than they had hoped.
This is great news especially considering Elon Musk has come out and said Tesla will allow Plaid Plus Model S reservation holders to purchase the Plaid Model S for its original price of $129,000 and will be able to save on the $10,000 price increase Tesla announced following the delivery event.
Fair enough— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 17, 2021
Tesla did the right thing here given if Tesla hadn’t announced and started taking reservations for the Model S Plaid Plus and later canceled the vehicles Plaid Plus reservation holders would’ve most likely ordered the Plaid Model S and locked in the $129,000 price tag.
So what do you think? Any of you in the Bay Area and have received a call from Tesla? Also, what are your thoughts on Tesla’s end-of-quarter push? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments below.

I'm in the Bay Area, and I would LOVE to have a Model S Plaid! But I cannot afford one, even if they shaved $10K off the price.
