What a Delivery of a Tesla Model Y Is Like
We have a video of a person taking delivery of a Tesla Model Y and everything that went into taking delivery of his new Tesla. Let's go over it!
The first thing he did is he got a delivery checklist online of things to look for and make sure were happening with his new Tesla. This list included:
* Validate the VIN #
* Correct and match all paper work
* Validate Color and Wheel Options
* Look for Paint Imperfections: drips, runs, scratches, dust, etc...
* Look at the rims and tires for every wheel - check for scratches, chips/nicks - check for tire wear
* Check the front license plate holder
* Check the hatch/frunk/door charge port
* Check that all charge ports open and close with no issues - mechanically/button/touchscreen/app
* Make sure all door handles are flush and work correctly
* Make sure all doors close properly
* Make sure there is no rattling when closing doors or rolling down windows
* Check the door trim for scratches or being misaligned
* All accessories under the frunk must be present - Tow hook, etc...
* The mirrors must be defect free (outside and inside mirrors)
* All lights must turn on and off without issue - both inside and outside the car
These are just some of the checklist items. A full list can be found here.
It's important to note any and all flaws of the vehicle before taking delivery of your car.
Taking Delivery of His Model Y
He went inside the Tesla delivery center and after 3 minutes, got his key to look at his car and look for any issues. That surprised me how fast it was to get to a point he could look at the car.
After doing his inspection, he found no paint defects. Everything looked good. He looked at the tires and they didn't have any wear on the tread. Inside, there was a license plate holder and a charger and all of that was good.
The charge ports opened without issue. All doors opened and closed without issue. The frunk looked good and opened without issue. All the door handles were flush with the car. They rolled down the windows to check for any rattles and here were none. All windows were flush with the doors.
They noticed some small scratches on one of the doors, but they were hard to see. The hazard lights worked. There were no cracks in the overhead screen window. All chargers were able to be opened with the touch screen in the middle.
The door trims looked good. All seats looked good without issue, scratches, or defects. All the seats folded down without issue.
All in all, it took less than 10 minutes to do all the checks and they then filled out the paper work to get their Model Y and took it for a drive. He liked the car and Tesla took 2 minutes to fix the scratches. The delivery process was very fast and simple. They signed a few things, handed Tesla a check, and that was it. It beat any other car buying experience easily. It was the 11 month wait that was hard.
What do you think of their Tesla Model Y buying experience? Would you buy a Model Y?

We owned Porsches for the past 10 years before buying the Model Y.
We love the Model Y with no complaints. As for the service experience it is not a Porsche experience and where Tesla falls down most.
But the simplcity and freedom from buttons and switches and glitz is very freeing. And the performance version goes like a bastard.

Most likely Tesla is a good car but their Delivery service is worst than any third world country. I ordered my MYLR on 06/22 & suppose to pick up the car from Owing mills , MD. I went their 3 times & still no car. 1st visit 12/17, identified paint issue on the rear door & they need to replace the door & suppose to update me(no update). I went their 12/23 2nd time, sales rep told me, he forget to call & car will be ready 12/24. I’ll get call in 12/24(no call). Sob I call & they said car is ready. When I was there they told me the door is not installed yet & they moved the date 12/26 most likely they’ll miss the date too. In the mean time, my bank is charging me interest & I do not have the car. Tesla outsourced delivery date checks on to the customers so u don’t identify any issue & most likely u’re not gonna identify any issue as u’re waiting months for the car & U’re excited. The delivery folks don’t communicate with u if u have any issue. I just don’t know why Tesla don’t outsource their customer service to east Europe or India. If u have any issue with your car then u’ll have horrible experience
