In a previous article, we covered a few ways you can get your brand new 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid without having to wait in line like everyone else. Some of those methods included waiting (kind of ironic) but most of them centered around finding alternative routes. In this article I want to share just how long the average wait time is for a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is in America.
Granted, it’s still a little early in the year and not a lot of people have had the chance to even order theirs so the statistics may be a little fourth dimensional. One must note however that even though the wait times are longer than normal, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is one of the most sought out hybrid SUVs on the market. If we recall early 2022/late 2021, there were secondhand listings of the 2021 RAV4 Hybrid for almost 25% more than what the dealer was charging. Interestingly enough people still bought them.
I can assure you that you’ll see the same thing happen this year. As gas prices start to slowly fall and jobs get back to normal after 3 years of economic decline, dealers may or may not stop charging the MSRP price. As we covered in an older story most of that is based off greed and economics. Taking what we know from this, I got a little interested to see just how long the wait times for a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is. So, I went to some Facebook groups and forums and asked. I also asked if they were still very much interested in waiting for a 2023 RAV4 Hybrid. The answers will really surprise you.
Nancy Adams said, “I ordered a 2022 Hybrid Limited July 28 and am now receiving a 2023. I just got notified yesterday that my dealership was allocated one and it’s now assigned to me. I haven’t received notice of when it will be arriving.” She has been waiting for 7 months and still doesn’t know when she’ll get it. I predict it would be a matter of days if not weeks due to the relatively short time an allocation takes to get to the dealership if there aren’t any complications in shipping and transport.
Jill Feeney had the longest. She said, “Was waiting in NY since March for a 22, now just heard my 23 will be built soon.” In retrospect, by the time it’ll be built and shipped, it will almost be a year in waiting times. Remember this isn’t RAV4 Prime. We all know how long those take. So, what’s the reason? Many factors contribute to these atrocious wait times. The fact that Toyota may not be able to keep up with demand is a factor, certain shortages, worker shortages, transportation complications, etc.
You may also be asking, with other good options out there like KIA or Hyundai, why are people voluntarily waiting out these wait times? The answer comes from the sheer simple fact that the current generation RAV4 Hybrid is pretty much liked by all. Especially now with the updated infotainment system on the 2023 model RAV4 Hybrids, it makes the RAV4 Hybrid a very well-liked car. I think that if you do decide to order a 2023 Toyota RAV4 hybrid, the joy and satisfaction you get from the car will offset your dilemma in waiting times.
What do you think? How long is your wait for a 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid? Let us know in the comments below.

My order for a 2022 RAV4

My order for a 2022 RAV4 hybrid XLE Premium was sent by my dealer to Toyota Manufacturing on 3/9/22. Today is 1/7/23 and I still have no idea when I will get an allocation. With no information available, it seems like Toyota’s system is broken.

I am a Canadian consumer and have had an XLE HYBRID ordered since Mar 28 2022. I was contacted and asked if I was interested in a SE edition. Both my wife and I jumped on it and we will receive some time after Feb 8th tentatively at this point.
Although not a 2022 XLE we have happily taken this 2023 SE and accepted Calvary Blue. The hybrid cablegate has been rectified and hopefully put to bed
Ordered a XSE Hybrid on June

Ordered a XSE Hybrid on June 8, 2022. Heard nothing from the dealer except we are number one for their next allocation. I'm thinking March for delivery. I ordered a F150 last year and Ford did a much better job on informing you about the status. I know Toyota does not follow the first come first served policy, so if you do order a RAV 4 Hybrid you will have a long frustrating experience.

I specifically ordered a 2023 XSE hybrid in early May of 2022 and still have no idea when I will receive it. Dealer has no updates either. Trying to stay patient because I know it'll be worth it.

I have had my fingers, toes and eyes crossed waiting for a 2022 Hybrid Rav4 Limited. On order since March 29, 2022 with added roof rack, towing hitch and harness. I have now been advised by the Kitchener Toyota Dealer that I will be getting a 2023 and he can't commit to when it will arrive! Luckily I am still driving my 2012 Rav4 Ltd. with over 200,000 Km. If the new Rav4 is as dependable as the old one ~ its worth the wait.

I ordered a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid back on March 29, 2022. Told there would be a 4-6 month wait. I am still waiting with fingers, toes and eyes crossed! Since I live near Cambridge ON Canada where there is a Toyota Plant that produces the Rav4, I figured I would have the car by now. Not the case. The Kitchener ON dealership indicated I am now on the list for a 2023 ~ no complaints about that! In the meantime I will keep driving my 2012 Rav4 with over 200,000 kms. It is still going great. If the new Rav4 is as dependable as my old Rav4 ~ its worth the wait!!

We just placed our order for a 2023 Rav4 Premium Hybrid on February 18th, 2023 - taking over a spot that was already in the queue since September, 2022. We understand (and appreciate) that we most likely wont see it until at least this fall. Until then, we pool our savings for possession day. If we don't like it, it doesn't sound like it will be too difficult to sell.

It’s March 2023 and we are still waiting. We placed ours XLE Premium in February 2022 in Richmond, BC, Canada, dealership will not return calls and has not given us any information since we put down the deposit. We don’t believe this dealership is allocating based on the timing of the orders. We talked to a Toyota dealership in downtown Vancouver and they have cleared all 2021 orders and have started delivering 2022 orders.

Placed an order for a 2023 Hybrid Woodland Edition on March 16, 2023. Was told that there would be a 3-6 month long wait. I contacted the dealership (located in SoCal) to see if they could find out what place I was in line, but it is too soon to say. Wait times are 3-6 months or longer. I'm not sure if Toyota is going state by state when manufacturing these.
Apparently only 6500 Woodlands will be produced (thereby making it a collector's item) but it doesn't seem like this particular trim is very popular. Hopefully they don't decide to drop production on this if this trim garners very little interest.
My brother placed an order for the XLE a few months ago and his came in a month and a half later. He does not have the hybrid though so I guess that is why the ETA was much faster.
As of right now there is no ETA for mine! But I will update in the future in case there are other people who have reserved the Woodland.

Toyota made a deliberate

Toyota made a deliberate decision about the North America market in response to government regulation or lack thereof that has created this supply situation. 100 percent of RAV4's allocated to the European market are hybrid or PHEV. Only 25 percent of those allocated to the North American market are hybrid or PHEV. The hybrid is more powerful and quieter so Americans want it. But European regulations are stronger and more demanding on economy so the places with the regulations get the better product and the places where they can get away with offloading the gas model get the gas model and grossly overpay for the hybrid.

I was placed in the allocation queue on April 20, 2022, at my local dealership for a 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE. I was told 3-9 months with it likely being 6-9 months until I would be top of the list (despite online videos saying the wait could be up to a year in some places, I believed it wouldn't be that long). I just received an email yesterday, May 15, 2023, saying I was finally #1 and hopefully my vehicle would be in the next allocation or two and it will be a 2023 model now obviously since 2022 aren't produced anymore (nor would I want a 2022 anymore). I'm excited to finally get my vehicle in the next month or so hopefully and I'm not sure if the long wait was due to the XSE trim as it seems those aren't produced at as high of rate as some of the other models, but it was a little disappointing the dealership ETA given to me wasn't more accurate. I always think it's better to under promise and over deliver and not the other way around, but either way, it's been a long wait time and hopefully well worth it!

We ordered a Rav4 XLE Premium

We ordered a Rav4 XLE Premium in early Feb/23 with an estimated delivery date of late August - early September. We also requested the dealership add us to a cancelation list for that model or its Hybrid brother should one become available. Two weeks ago, the dealership called saying someone backed out of their hybrid order so we canceled our order for the gasoline model and took the Hybrid. It is slated to arrive the end of July 2023. Can't wait. Our current vehicle (also a Toyota) has 400,000 kms and is ready to be retired.
