The 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman is known as a great value truck. It is designed for the work market, perfect for fleets and construction crews. The Tradesman trim is the most affordable Ram, free of the expensive bells and whistles, but full of the basic options that people need on the job.
Mike Manley, who heads the Ram brand, says in a statement, “Ram launched the original Tradesman model in 2011, and our work truck customers have enjoyed Ram’s benchmark durability ever since. Ram has the highest owner loyalty of any half-ton truck and the Ram 1500 Tradesman model will continue to deliver confidence for hard-working people who rely on it every day.”
Perfect for Work
The 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman will be available in the two most requested work cab styles and two bed lengths: Quad Cab with 6 ft., 4 in. bed, Crew Cab short bed (5 ft., 7 in.) or Crew Cab with optional 6 ft., 4 in. bed.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman will offer plenty of power for whatever you have to carry or tow. The truck will be available with a standard 3.6 liter Pentastar V-6 with the eTorque mild hybrid. There is also a 5.7 liter HEMI V-8 and a 5.7 HEMI V-8 with the eTorque. According to Ram, the mild hybrid system replaces the old alternator. “The eTorque mild hybrid system replaces the traditional alternator on the engine with a belt-driven motor generator unit that performs several functions. The motor generator unit works with a 48-volt battery pack to enable quick and seamless start/stop function, short-duration torque addition to the engine crankshaft in certain driving situations and brake energy regeneration, which improves responsiveness and efficiency.” According to Ram, “eTorque adds up to 90 lb.-ft. of torque to the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and up to 130 lb.-ft. to the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8.”
The new 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman is 225 pounds lighter than the last model. Depending on the configuration you choose, it can tow up to 12,750 pounds.
