The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Takes on Tesla in New Video

In just over a week we will finally see the production version of Jeep's first all-electric vehicle. See Jeep's teaser video showing the Wagoneer S taking on a Tesla.

We are now just a week away from the official launch of the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S EV. Jeep will unveil the brand’s first all-electric vehicle on May 30th, in New York City. Typically, Jeep opens ordering right after any vehicle unveiling. The tease video called “Surpass Yourself” shows the Wagoneer S taking on a Tesla Y on the track.

Yes, that is Stellantis’ head of design in the timing tower, recording the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S’ stellar performance. According to the video, the Wagoneer S will offer 600 horsepower and 617 ft.lbs. of torque. It has an estimated range over 300 miles. The EV which will eventually be sold globally has a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds which according to the ad is a tenth of a second faster than a Tesla Model Y.

The video also shows the Wagoneer S compared to the discontinued Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The powerful Trackhawk also had 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds.

When The Jeep Wagoneer S Will be Built

As I reported in January, the Wagoneer S will be built in North America, although Jeep is still not saying where. It will be delivered first in the U.S. and Canada but will eventually be sold globally. In January, Jeep said, “The new Jeep Wagoneer S interior features premium technology seamlessly integrated with meticulously crafted artisan details. Mindful materials and design-focused features include a tailored driver control center with a unique Jeep brand-exclusive Selec-Terrain toggle and dynamic, color-selectable ambient lighting. The Jeep Wagoneer S will also feature a standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof and, expanding the Jeep brand’s exclusive collaboration with McIntosh, will offer a discerningly tuned, segment-exclusive, 19-speaker, premium flagship McIntosh audio system.”

The Wagoneer S will be built on Stellantis’ new STLA-Large Platform. The mid-size SUV will be offered exclusively as a BEV. The Jeep Wagoneer S will have off-road capability with all-terrain management.

Jeep Planning Another BEV for Later This Year

Jeep is also planning to debut another global BEV for later this year. The 2024 Jeep Recon EV is expected to go into production around the same time as the Wagoneer S. Ralph Gilles described the Recon as a brother to the popular Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep Recon EV is expected to have true trail-rated capability and a similar open-air feel as the original Wrangler.
