One of the hardest things to watch, while the auto companies try to make the switch to more EVs, is the demise of popular models. Stellantis has been phasing out the hugely popular HEMI engines, calling the last models ‘Last Call’ editions. The popular Dodge Chargers and Challengers were phased out. Jeep fans weren’t happy when Jeep announced a ‘Last Call’ 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392. Jeep has now relented and announced that there will be a 2025 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392.
“When news broke in March that Jeep Wrangler 392 was roaring off into the sunset, the comments, coverage and conversation showed us that the Jeep community isn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the V-8-powered Wrangler,” said Bill Peffer, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “Jeep brand listened and will continue the 392 Final Edition into the 2025 model year.”
As I reported in March, even Jeep executives hated to see the powerful Wrangler 392 go. The mighty Wrangler Rubicon 392 is the quickest and most powerful Wrangler available. It has a class-exclusive 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 with 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. The Wrangler 392 will do 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.0 seconds. Jeep is not saying if the Wrangler will get a version of the Hurricane Inline 6 that will replace HEMI engines in other models.
“Jeep Wrangler 392 remains atop the mountain in terms of all-out performance, power and unmatched capability. These are game-changing strengths that our most impassioned Jeep enthusiasts asked us for, and that the competition was unable to match," said Bill Peffer, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand – North America. “To celebrate the existence of this powerhouse, we’re sending the raucous, 392-powered Wrangler off in style with this special Final Edition, limited to just 3,700 units globally.”
Now, the Final Edition will continue as a 2025 model and it will include everything that makes the 392 a hit.
