Owners of 2014 Chevrolet Silverados are hot about AC problems

I feel your pain not only are they unlikely to pay for the parts they have been on back order for months with no known ETA on availability. I reached out to the CEO Mary Barra and all staff would say is it's out of warranty. I solved my problem by trading my 2014 Silverado with only 38,000 miles on the clock in on another brand. As much as I hated to do it I went for the extended warranty just to protect myself.

I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado the AC started blowing hot air and no one can repair the
AC. I have spent $330.00 to have it repaired with nothing being fixed. I am told the parts are on national back order.
I am going to the dealer today to see what they say.

Add me to the list of a/c issues with my 2014 Silverado. woke up one morning to go to work and truck would only blow hot air. of course out of warranty so I'm left to ditch out the money for what seems gm should be recalling. very dissatisfied with this truck and will never but another chevy.

Add my 2014 GMC Sierra to bad condenser list. Less than 40k, dealer said I'm 5th in line waiting for a condenser from GM for this small town dealer. Always a GM guy, but GM acting more like Washington, we know about problem but doing little to fix it. Time to take my $$ elsewhere.

Add me to the rest of the air conditioning wrecks. 2014 PU. Condenser out last April. Took it to a GM service facility. He said two weeks back order. Today's date is what! Last week I called to check on any word from GM on replacement parts. Not! could be weeks or months away! It was interesting that the Manager of the service dept.and repair told me just in our little town of 20k he has a dozen GM vehicles with same issues. Nation wide it has to be in the tens of thousands. Due to the summer heat and my travel schedule I
went out and rented an additional vehicle. Time for a class action law suit

Finally getting my 2014 Chevy Silverado A/C condenser fixed. I was on a wait list for 3 months because of a nationwide backorder. The downfall is my Silverado is just out of warranty and the repairs are costing me $1,200.00. I did contact GM customer care when the A/C originally failed, and it sounded like GM might assists with the cost, but they are not. Even though air conditioning is not a safety issue, I am sure the Freon leaking out into the atmosphere is causing some harmful problems with the environment since so many GM vehicles are impacted. Also, the average temps where I live in California are high 90's to low 100's daily. Very disappointing that GM is not backing their mistake and making additional money off loyal consumers for that mistake!

2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z71..AC is out. Damn thing is blowing hot air when you turn on the AC. Bought the truck June 2014. We travel a lot in South Texas. And if you live down here around San Antonio you know how hot it gets in July. This is total BS. GM should have a recall on their AC system for these trucks. Been a Chevrolet fan for years. We even have a 2004 Z71 4 door.. had plenty of work done on that truck too. Only had to recharge the AC in that one. Not sure if I will invest into another GM product if they don't fix their shit and help people with these problems that are going on with their vehicles. This should be a recall. Always thought Chevrolet was a stand up brand... now it makes me wonder.

Well here we are 2014 Chevy owners,, that we paid good hard earned money for ,,and GM laughs all the way to the bank ,,I to have ac issues just dropped at the dealer and heard every excuse ,,hurry up and fix the government made vehicle so I can trade it for a Ford

Yep, my 2014 GMC 5.3 finally had the lock up at 56K everyone else is having. Filed a claim with GM and now taking to the dealer tonight. I was employed GM direct for 5 years. It is sad that GM is doing nothing to rectify a known issue with these 2014 model trucks.

A/C failed at 56,000 on my 2014 GMC. The compressor locked up and stalled the engine. I almost wrecked.

Bought $52,000 2014 Silverado in 2/14. Nine recalls on nebulous incidentals. At 46,000 miles and 3 1/2 years later (note all is just beyond warranty period), A C began blowing hot air. Was advised condenser has leak. Repair at dealership to be $863. If my vehicle was the only case of leaking condenser, I would just consider it bad luck on my part. However, in view of seeing that there are thousands and thousands of 2014 Silverados with this failure, I am infuriated at G M that no recall has been issued. My wife bought 2015 Impala, but we are through with Chevrolet and G M. I plan to give Chevrolet a lot of free advertisement out of this.

add me to the list AC blowing hot so I took it to local shop, no use in using the dealer my 2014 has 57000 miles and out of warranty. Guy couldn't believe it compressor had literally ruptured almost in half and belt was gone ripped to shreds. So he replaced with GM parts and now it starts up and hi side pressure jumps way up and the clutch starts screaming, apparently some thing in the condenser is partially blocked and no parts are available.

Add my 2014 Silverado with less than 35K miles on it to the list.

GM Survey, what vehicle will you buy next, GM,GMC, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Honda.

Has anyone had an expansion valve go and what did it cost to replace and have installed. Also has anymore received any monies from their Dealership where they bought the trucks . Thanks Jerry

last week my 2014 Silverado began blowing hot air after I noticed steam or smoke coming from the right side of the engine compartment. took it into the dealership and found out that the compressor had blown and is frozen. There is also metal debris clogged up in the lines. $1300 repair. I need to know what parts to buy so I can fix it myself.

I finally got air conditioning back in my 2015 Denali after 2 months. The condensers are still not available from GM, 6,600 are on back order. I went aftermarket which is killing me but no choice the humidity is causing issues with all my electronics. The system was down and open long enough to ruin the compressor too, so $1,950 dollars later I have air.
The next decision is keep it or trade it, the bad condenser is in all full size GM trucks and suv's from 2014 through 2017. There are many Escalades, Suburbans, and Denalis being traded so my trade value is 10 k less than book. I have purchased many GM's but not any more.

Got the call today! AC condenser is in, finally!!!!

Yep Same thing. I bought 2 2014 z71 Silverados. My wife's had major electrical issues which after 5 visits to the dealer) was resolved when it died in traffic one day and I called the dealership and had them tow it. I could crank it and it would work fine but otherwise she would be in slow traffic (creeping) and took a video of the radio display "strobing" then the stabitrac would flash on / off then the thing would die. This started when the vehicle had 15k on it. Now it had 40k and the dealer wanted to charge for the "bad battery cable" Seriously??? Now my AC is blowing hot air. Started a week ago. I was travelling to FL for vacation. NICE!!!

Got back and now I'm headed to the dealer again. I've had vibration issues with these trucks Chevy knows about but won't fix. Also the leaf springs have been rep[laced on both because they squeak. But ..of course they are doing it again. The steering wheel on both creek when turning like they are rubbing on a dry gasket.

If anyone from Chevy is reading this: Guess what? My entire fleet of trucks at my company were Chevy / GMCs. We are at the point of a fleet replacement because we travel coast to coast. I can promise... OUR logo WILL NOT GRACE A CHEVY PRODUCT FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE BECAUSE ALL OF THEM HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES. Good luck if you ever need another tax-payer bailout. I will certainly be VERY vocal about it.

BTW The trucks look great! Sitting still. (Seems all they were designed to do)

You can add me to the list of Tahoe owners with an A/C problem. I bought a 2016 in November of 2015. Last week the A/C started blowing hot air. I called the dealer and they said they'd take care of the problem. I hope they only have to fix it once.

I had this problem very early on because I bought it new and drive many miles. Now, a bunch of you have had the problem. I fought with GM early and tried to hold them accountable since I was barely out of warranty. They basically told me "tough" and we agreed that I will only be purchasing Fords for my company fleet and they seemed at peace with that idea. Bottom line, the AC line is a poor design. It's time for a class action lawsuit to hold "government motors" accountable.

2014 Silverado 45000 miles A/C blowing hot air... PISSED... especially after reading all of these other comments... obviously design flaw and should be a recall... BS
