Public Gets First Chance to See the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S BEV

Jeep's first global BEV will be on display and open to the public at a golf event in Detroit.

Jeep is giving the public the chance to kick the tires on its all-new 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition. The Wagoneer S is Jeep’s first global BEV that will debut later this year.  Jeep is providing the courtesy vehicles for a golf event called the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, June 25-30. The all-new electric vehicle will be on display at the Detroit Golf Club during the event.

“The Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition has been revealed in photos and videos around the world, and now it’s set to make its public debut,” said Bill Peffer, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “We couldn’t be more excited to give Detroit fans the very first chance to see and get inside our very first all-electric vehicle coming to the U.S. at the Rocket Mortgage Classic this week.”

2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition

As I reported at the end of May, the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S will deliver 600 horsepower and 617 lb.-ft. of immediate torque for a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds. According to Jeep, the Wagoneer S will also have a range of more than 300 miles. The five-passenger vehicle will only be available as a BEV. Jeep is clearly targeting the Tesla Y as the Wagoneer S’ main competitor.

The Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition features loads of technology with 45 inches of screen space. There is also a 10.25-inch interactive screen for the front passenger.  The Launch Edition has black design accents, a reimagined seven-slot illuminated grille, 20-inch wheels and standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

“The launch of the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S marks a new chapter in the storied history of the Jeep brand,” said Antonio Filosa, Jeep brand CEO. “Building upon nearly a century of innovation and design, this first global EV will introduce a whole new generation of owners to an experience that is distinctly Jeep and 100% electric in every way. With new energy in the Jeep vehicle lineup, ranging from EV to V-8, customers have never had more freedom to choose their own adventure.”

2024 Wagoneer S Built on the STLA Large Platform

Jeep describes its new electric platform as flexible. Engineers flexed the STLA Large platform to adjust the length, width, suspension and powertrain configurations to tailor it specifically for the Jeep Wagoneer S. Standard, all-electric, four-wheel drive allows the Wagoneer S to perform well both on-road and in a variety of road conditions. Stellantis-designed electric drive modules (EDMs) independently power the front and rear wheels for instant torque, while the Jeep brand-exclusive Selec-Terrain traction management system features five distinct driving modes: Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow, Sand.

The Jeep Wagoneer S’s 3-in-1 EDMs combine the electric motor, gearing and power electronics into a single, compact unit that is both powerful and efficient. The front EDM is equipped with wheel disconnects to reduce energy draw when cruising and to help optimize range.

Rocket Mortgage Classic Golf Event

The six-day golf event will give consumers the first opportunity to see and get inside the Jeep BEV. Drivers can also place a reservation for the Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition at Jeep.com.

Jeep will have special displays showcasing its Wagoneer S, Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer L models during the golf competition. Product specialists will also be on hand to answer questions about Jeep’s first BEV that will launch in the U.S. and Canada and eventually be sold globally. Nearly 200 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee vehicles will be used as courtesy vehicles, transporting the golfers and golf officials.
