Luxury seems to be the new buzz word when it comes to pickups. While auto companies are still stressing performance and capability, they are also adding luxury to vehicles. It makes sense because many people use their pickups as their mobile offices. Owners may travel hundreds of miles every day in their vehicles, whether they are checking on pipelines, farmland or construction projects. The Special Edition 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel 12 hopes to raise the bar, adding more luxury and more technology to its off-road model.
2019 Ram 1500 Rebel's New Luxury and Technology
One of the most luxurious new features on the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel 12 is the 12-inch touchscreen that gives the truck its special edition designation. The Rebel 12 will have the Uconnect 4C with the 12-inch touchscreen and 900-watt Harmon Kardon upgraded sound system as well as navigation.
“Expanding the availability of the segment-leading Uconnect 4C 12-inch touchscreen is a direct response to market demand,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – North America. “Customers have been asking for additional high-end features on Rebel and now we’re delivering with benchmark technology and materials wrapped in off-road capability.”
When I recently interviewed Ryan Nagode, the Chief Interior Designer for Ram and SRT at Fiat Chrysler, he talked about the first ever 12” infotainment screen for a truck. Nagode said that it was extremely important to the designers that the screen be functional but not too distracting. They wanted to make sure that the controls were easy to use and didn’t draw the driver’s eyes away from the road for too long. The fourth-generation Uconnect system has more processing power, better graphics and better ability to interact with smartphones.
Upgraded Leather Interior
The 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel 12 will also have an upgraded leather-trimmed interior with leather seating offered for the first time. The Rebel 12 has heated front seats and unique metal speaker grilles trimmed in the Rebel’s signature Radar Red anodized finish.
Designed for Off-Roading
The original Rebel models made their mark as off-road vehicles and the 2019 Ram Rebel 12 builds on that reputation. The vehicles come with a factory lift so they are ready for off-roading as soon as you take delivery. The 2019 Ram Rebel 12s are equipped with engineer designed lifts, locking rear differential, 33-inch tires, Bilstein shocks, skid plates, tow hooks and other off-road-ready features. The Ram 1500 Rebel is designed for the truck owner who is ready to go and wants the best when he or she hits the trails.
The Rebel 12 package can be added to all of the Rebel cab, color and powertrain configurations. The 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel 12 special edition starts at $46,990 and that doesn’t include the $1,695 destination fee. The 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel 12 will be available in the fourth quarter of 2018.
