GM has announced free scheduled maintenance for two years on certified pre-owned Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC vehicles, starting today.
The program is called Owner Care, and is a two-year/30,000-mile vehicle maintenance program that covers oil changes, tire rotations, and multi-point vehicle inspections at no charge to the customer.
GM's free scheduled maintenance is a new part of the Certified Pre-Owned program for Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC that now more closely resembles Cadillac's pre-owned program, with a 12-month/12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, and 24-hour roadside assistance.
GM's Certified Pre-Owned program also includes a 172-point inspection and reconditioning procedure and free trials of OnStar and Sirius/XM satellite radio.
“Customers demand more value for their money,” GM fleet and commercial operations marketing director Jennifer Costabile. “We believe our enhanced program offers our customers an outstanding experience from the moment they drive their GM Certified Pre-Owned vehicle off the lot.”
General Motors US sales and operations vice president Don Johnson says GM's Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle program will also help sell more new vehicles. “The increased value [of GM Certified Pre-Owned vehicles] gives potential new customers more for their trade-ins, thereby lowering their ownership costs,” also implying that GM Certified Pre-Owned vehicle prices will likely reflect those higher values.
GM claims that free scheduled maintenance for its Certified Pre-Owned vehicles is a first in the manufacturer-certified used car sales industry.
