I just realized the roof of my 2013 blizzard pearl toyota highlander limited is peeling in 2 places. Is it covered under this recall?

I have a 2012 Toyota Prius and have noticed the paint on the roof is slowly deteriorating took it to a body shop and was told it is due to a manufacturer defect. I read one comment that if the Prius was made in Japan, Toyota won't fix it. If that's so, why does Toyota sell Japanese made vehicles. All if not most Prius are made in Japan. Toyota does not want to be held responsible. If that's the case, do not sell your cars here in America.

I have a 2008 Lexus GX470 with the white color, blizzard pearl I think. The paint looks really good until it just peels up in large strips. I touch it up so it won't all fall off but it looks bad, and there is always more falling off.

Same problem with Super White 040 Tacoma ‘17 peeling off in 3 different areas, all edges. Contacted Toyota they simply answered its out of warranty (35,000 miles) and have to wait for a national recall if it would happen I would be contacted by mail...they simply don’t care. How it is possible different models are being recalled because of this paint but not Tacoma’s? We never had a car where we had this problem, never ever I would buy a Toyota again.

My 2015 Highlander with White Blizzard Pearl paint is chipping on the front side of the sunroof. I hoped there would be a recall by now but there is not one yet. I loved my Highlander but now feel it is not as nice a car as I always thought it was. I do hope there is a recall soon.

From Toyota:
"The covered condition may occur when sunlight over time degrades the adhesion between the factory-applied paint primer coat layer and the base metal electrodeposition layer causing the paint to peel from the metal body panel."

They will only repaint the peeled area, they do not fix the problem, the paint will continue to peel in other areas.

They will only repaint the peeled area, so, the paint will continue to peel in other areas as time goes by.

I got the letter for the recall in the mail. Went to get it done and my car took FOREVER due to the windshield not being available and on back order. Fast forward, now the paint is chipping again!!! They claim they paint the whole car that is of metal material. It hasn’t even been a year, maybe 6 months. Really disappointed

2014 Scion Tc - Super white paint blistering. Called Toyota and car is not part of any recalls. Sucks its not that old of a car. Makes me rethink ever purchasing a car from Toyota/ Toyota family again.

I have a 2010 Prius and my daughter has a 2012 both with Blizzard white both have peeling paint does Toyota cover the Prius in this fix?

Lisa Rudolph (not verified)    December 4, 2020 - 9:43AM

I received a letter notifying me of the paint issue with my car. 2015 Toyota Corolla. I do have paint peeling on several spots and it is getting worse. I took it to the Toyota dealership in my city. They did they took pictures and will see of Toyota approves it? They are not very nice and their customer service isn’t very professional. Should I call Toyota direct? It is really getting bad.

I have a 2012 blizzard pearl Highlander. 62,000 miles. Paint is peeling away. Also bubbling in some places. I have gone to the Toyota body shop and called Toyota corporate and told Highlander is not in the program. They tell me it could be added in the future. By then I might have no paint left on my Highlander. It's disheartening to take such good care of my car and have this happen.

Is toyota honoring their commitment fie fixing the peeling paint. Its the second mist expensive purchase we make other than house. When it starts peeling do we wait until it peels more? We cant even get trade in with this issue. Were dealerships aware and didnt tell us. I asked specificcaly if there were any issues they knew about and they said no. This was in August if 2918 i purchased from Auto Nation

I have a 2013 rav4 with blizzard white paint. I received the letter last year about peeling paint but at that time didn't have any issues. It started about a month ago, I noticed a few paint chips on my window. I looked on top of my roof and half the paint was gone. Drove straight to Toyota the next day so they could look at it. At first they said I would have to keep it there for assessment. I said come and take a look at it. She followed me outside looked at the roof and said holy shit! She went and got a manager who also looked at it and peeled another big piece off. They said ok, drop it off tomorrow and we will see if any other areas will need to be repainted. They gave me a rental and they had my rav4 for 2 weeks. They ended up painting the roof, doors and the sides of the windshield. I think eventually the fender will need to be done because the paint is bubbling. They will only paint if it's peeling, not if it's bubbling chipping etc

2015 Rav 4-second time getting roof painted and I have peeling on 4 different areas. Toyota checked warranty and said won’t buy car back. Feel bad for next person who buys after I sell. Bad business practice for Toyota, but what do they care. They are a billion dollar corporation. I’ll never buy Toyota again.

2012 Highlander. Paint peeling badly near sunroof. Garaged at least 95 percent of its life and I'm the original owner. Called Toyota and they also told me too bad. They said my Highlander is not on the recall notice so I'm responsible for repairs. Very disappointed with Toyota and I've been a multi-Toyota owner since 1995.

Cheryl (not verified)    December 18, 2020 - 2:24PM

2012 Highlander. Blizzard Pearl. Paint started peeling about a year ago. Before it started to peel, it had started to bubble. Like the car had chill bumps. The dealership says the only way they can check if covered is entering my VIN. Checked earlier this week, still not in the program. I've call Toyota corporate twice to no avail. Went to Toyota to trade in my Highlander and they knocked $3,000 off trade-in value because of the peeling paint-Toyota paint! My Highlander is a 2012 with 63,000 miles. Never in an accident. Inside is immaculate. Outside looks like a junker.

I have a Tacoma with the white blizzard paint with the same issue. I took it into a Toyota body shop and they said Tacoma’s are not on the recall list. Will it get added in the future?

Linda Mowen (not verified)    December 26, 2020 - 12:31AM

I complained about my paint peeling off my roof for a few years. Had to fight and argue. They gotthe peeling part on roof rails and roof repainted ! And the dealer ship charged me about 600 dollars. I'm now having more peeling. I was never told there was a problem with this. I have lost all faith in Fitzgerald Toyota in Chambersburg Pa. I actually sprayed some white on the new peeling to keep rust away. I think they should repaint the cars in a different color, the whole car ! So the problem is solved. I talked to someone for months. I lost my photos. But the dealer and Clines has some. I want my money back. I will never buy cars there again !

Do not understand why so many are having problems. We have a 2014 White Blizzard Camry 4 door. We got the letter, then a follow up letter our Camry went into Venice FL dealer body shop... all beautifully repainted. It did take 3 weeks they were so jammed up, but all free and rental car for 3 weeks also free.... This was Dec. 2020 I live in Sarasota,FL

I contacted the dealership that I got my 2011 Rav 4 from about the blizzard pearl paint peeling off in multiple areas. They filed a claim and Toyota paid for a paint job in May 2019. When I got the car back I noticed that they did not repaint the whole car, only the spots that were peeling. Fast forward to present and after the snow melted from the last storm, I noticed several new areas. Called my dealership and they are going to file a new claim. Waste of everyone’s time - should have just done the whole car at once as obviously new spots are going to show up.

I have a 2008 Lexus GX470 and the paint on the roof is peeling I contacted Toyota and they told me that my van is in on the list I'm kind of confused because most of the letters that I have seen said 2008 models

Steve (not verified)    January 5, 2021 - 8:29AM

2006 corolla. For the past 10 years I have seen the same paint issues ONLY with Corolla/Camry. The roof, hood paint is completely fades away, while the rest of the car is beautiful. Actually, I am starting at one in a home depot parking lot now
This has to be a defect that toyota needs to fix. Can anyone relate.

I have a 2018 Toyota Camry that has the paint peeling issue but it is red. I happened on this site while looking for info on my problem. Is there a recall on red Camrys?
