Subaru is set to reveal the all-new 2015 Legacy sedan tomorrow but images have leaked ahead of the official reveal. The aging Subaru Legacy was on its last legs and sales were falling for the flagship sedan from Subaru. There is renewed excitement for the sedan now that its celebrating its 25th birthday. The all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy will receive much-needed styling updates, but are they enough to propel the sedan to sports sedan status? Now for its 25th anniversary, will the 2015 Legacy with its coupe-like roofline be ready to finally be considered a competitor on the world market? You be the judge.
The mid-size sedan segment is highly competitive and Subaru hasn’t even been in the conversation when it comes to its competition before now. The Legacy Concept that was unveiled in LA received more praise for its styling, than the highly anticipated 2015 WRX at the same show. From the teaser image Subaru released, it looked like the new 2015 Legacy would receive the same styling cues but the leaked images reveal something less.
The new styling of the 2015 Legacy was supposed to propel the flagship model to compete better with the top sports sedans. Moving into its six-generation, on the 25th anniversary of the Legacy, is it ready to make the next step in its evolution? Subaru is a conservative automaker and they rarely do anything risky. But for Legacy to really compete for global status as a mid-size sports sedan, it had to make a transformational change.
It’s been given a sleeker and sportier side profile created by a fast roofline and a flowing side window. The front end styling takes a page directly from the new 2015 WRX particularly with its new "hawkeye" headlights. Will this new 2015 Subaru launch Legacy to new status around the globe?
Subaru has not released any performance details, but maybe we’ll see a new Legacy GT model with the six-generation sedan? It will likely debut in a Limited 25th anniversary model. Of course the 2015 Legacy will come with Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive and Boxer engine for a low center of gravity.
Subaru says drivers are welcomed by a sporty cylinder shape meter and 3-spoke steering wheel we can see in the interior image. Also its shifter is angled to align with the driver's seating position to inspire “a sporty driving feel.” Add in heated and cooled seats, a head-up display, a high-tech multi-function in the instrument panel and the new six-generation Legacy may be ready to take on the competition.
The revealed images of the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy are not what many were expecting. But just like the WRX, the real deal is never what the concept car looks like. Do you like the new 2015 Legacy styling?

Oh how I wish this car was going to get "heated and cooled" seats. It will have three-stage heated front seats and dual-stage heated rear seats. I was willing to consider a sedan but if I'm going to give up the S5, the next car HAS to have cooled seats (Texas summers).
