The all-new BMW M2 Coupe has been highly awarded in its first year of life. The M2 gets no less than seven different awards for being the best new sports car on the planet. What awards did the sports coupe win?
The first comes from the readers’ vote held by the automobile magazine “Auto Bild Sportscars”. In the category “Compact Car Series”, the M2 wins the “Sports Car of the Year” award for its in-line 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine with an output of 272 kW/370 hp. The readers were instantly impressed with the performance of the high-performance sports car.
The next came from readers of the automobile magazine “Sport Auto”. They voted the M2 Coupe, in the “Sportiest Cars of 2016” Award, readers selected the BMW M GmbH newcomer. In addition to the BMW M2 Coupe, the BMW M3, the BMW M235i Coupe, the BMW M235i Convertible and the BMW 340i Sedan all finished first in four other categories. This meant that of all manufacturers, BMW won the most titles at this year’s “Sport Auto Award” this year.
And that's not all
The new BMW M2 Coupe was voted “Car of the Year” in Japan as well as gaining three prestigious design distinctions, the “iF Design Award”, the “Good Design Award” and the “Autonis”. The M2 also claimed the title of BBC Top Gear Magazine’s Coupe of the year in the UK earlier this year.
In its first year, the BMW M2 Coupe gets numerous accolades and no less than seven different awards for being the best new sports car on the planet. It’s hard to disagree.
