There's A Perfect Storm Brewing At Subaru

Are you shopping for a new 2024 Subaru Forester or 2024 Outback? It could be the perfect time now. See why a perfect storm is brewing.

There is something unique happening at Subaru of America right now. Let me say that there is a perfect storm for customers looking to buy a new 2024 Subaru Forester, 2024 Outback, or another new model right now.

Let’s review what I would call the perfect storm.

Three significant events are affecting pricing and how Subaru retailers deal with customers. First, I see Subaru’s inventory increasing. Second, because of the economy and high interest rates, demand for new cars is down. Third, I’ve seen Subaru retailers ready to make a deal.

It’s a matter of supply and demand.

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV and 2024 Impreza compact hatchback both received a remodel, and yet they are still significantly down in 2024. There should be more inventory of these models right now.

From what I’ve seen recently, Subaru wants to move the 2024 Forester and 2024 Outback. SOA is offering special financing now on both SUVs. Something I haven’t seen in the two decades I’ve been covering Subaru.

It’s good news if you are buying a performance model.

The 2024 Subaru WRX performance sedan and 2024 Subaru BRZ sport coupe were remodeled for the 2022 model year. Those performance models have decreased the most of any of SOA’s nameplates. You may be able to get a good deal.

Subaru's Ascent 3-Row SUV and Legacy midsize sedan are due for remodels in 2025, so Subaru wants to move all remaining 2024 models this year.

I think these things are important for Subaru customers to know.

As I’ve said, Subaru’s inventory is improving. Customers can find new 2024 models on Subaru retailers’ lots. This should help sales in March and April.

Subaru is offering discounts, special financing, and manufacturer incentives on models they want to sell now, including the Forester and Outback. So, from what I’ve seen, it’s a good time to buy.

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is still a hot model, and you may not get below sticker pricing on some subcompact SUV trims. The Sport and Wilderness are hot trim levels. Subaru likely has more Base and Premium trims. They could be the best models to buy now.

The 2024 Subaru Impreza compact hatch and 2024 Legacy midsize sedan are selling below MSRP now. You could get the best deal on these two models this spring.

But overall, I would say it’s the best time to buy any Subaru model now. It’s a perfect storm and a buyer's market for the first time in a long time.

Just purchased 2023 Outback Touring XT certified pre owned dealer executive loaner only on Feb 12 and on March 19 leased a new 2023 WRX 6 speed manual Premium trim with XTi exhaust system. Love these cars!! Our sixth and seventh Subaru. Both cars are terrific. The WRX well that thing is something else.

When the Subaru App asked why I was dissatisfied with it I responded with this. It's cathartic more than anything, but don't buy a Subaru if you don't like micro-transactions.

Were you able to use the feature you wanted today? I answered no and wrote the below response:
Because even though the technology exists in my car the ability to remote start is stuck behind a pay wall. I will never purchase another Subaru again. I will tell everyone I know not to purchase a Subaru. I will post on social media to never purchase a Subaru. I understand that this means nothing to you, that I'm just a voice yelling at the waves in the ocean to stop. Subaru is an amazing car, and until I realized how ridiculous needing to pay to use technology in the car I purchased is I had planned on purchasing them for life. Maybe you'll get a laugh out of this comment, maybe you'll share it around the office and everyone can chuckle at the poor man unable to start his car in the cold. All I can guarantee is that I'll be one less drop in the ocean of your profits and all I can hope is that I'll convince one other person not to purchase it. If the ability to remote start my car ever gets included in the price of a Subaru I will gladly return as a customer, but I won't pay a monthly subscription for it.

I went to a Subaru dealership fully intending to buy a new WRX. I personally cannot stand tge new "cheap plastic" on the entire bottom. Not to mention they took a car that used to look aggressive and fun and made it boring and blah. I bought a Nissan instead.

I really enjoy my 2014 outback. Great car. I feel if you look at all cars in general there are good and bad years.
Also owner care is important. The upkeep and how you drive the vehicle.

I purchased my second Crosstrek a 2024 Wilderness and love it !
The 11.6 “ infotainment screen performs flawlessly and reacts quickly as required. The 3500 lb towing capacity gets my boat to the launch in and out with no problems.
Personally don’t like the excessive cladding however it works for protection in the brush and gravel roads.
Would have preferred more factory lift something above 10” of ground clearance for true off road adventures.
The 4:11 final gear ratio gives me descent low end torque.
Notice the coolant runs very low in the reservoir but no issues so I have not topped it up yet.
The 3 camera eyesight is a huge improvement over my 2021. Locks in the lane quite well when in auto pilot mode.
Wireless car play and charging are also wonderful features over the 2021.
Haven’t mounted my rooftop tent yet but looking forward to boondocking this summer.

They should be giving them away to all the customers who are suffering from their horrible transmissions they refuse to be accountable for

We love our 2020 Forester and have seen and driven the 2024 Forester but don’t see enough changes to warrant their asking for as much money as they are. Yes, the dealer came down in price a little but we have an almost blemish free Forester with 36k for mileage and 5 year financing at 0%!
