A Car Burglar Shatters a Tesla Cybertruck Window, Peels Down the Glass, & Climbs Into the Truck

A new video shared by a Tesla Cybertruck owner following a burglary shows the perpetrator shattering his Cybertruck’s window, peeling down the glass, and climbing onto his truck to steal his bag. The whole thing only took a few seconds.

Anuj Thakkar is a Tesla Cybertruck owner who was recently the unfortunate victim of a car burglary incident. Following the encounter, Anuj shared a brief description of the event and a video captured by his Cybertruck’s Sentry camera.

Anuj writes, “There was No Alarm, No Notifications on my phone… literally nothing happened. I just found it like this…..That can’t be right. Does anyone know why there is no alarm system?”

The video Anuj shared was taken using his phone. He records the sentry footage playing on his Cybertruck’s center screen and appears to be showing it to a police officer.

In Anuj's video, a red sedan can be seen pulling up next to his parked Cybertruck. The two assailants, one in the driver's seat and the other in the passenger seat, briefly stop to see if there are valuables left in the truck.

The passenger in the red sedan leaves the car, gets a closer look inside the Cybertruck window, and returns to his car.

A few seconds later, the burglar returns with what appears to be a glass-breaking tool and proceeds to the Cybertruck window on the driver's side.

Anuj comments on the Sentry footage, saying the burglar is “looking to see if there is anything in there.”

The burglar immediately puts his glass-breaking tool over the windows and shatters the driver’s side glass. Analyzing the footage, the cop can be heard saying, “It’s a tool the thief pushes in the side; look at the top; he pops it…there you go.”

Here, the assailant can be seen grabbing hold of the shattered glass from the top and peeling down the glass to leave the window completely open.

After pulling down the windows, the burglar climbs into the Cybertruck. At one point, half of his body is inside the Cybertruck, and his feet are dangling high off the ground.

After struggling to reach an object on the passenger side, the burglar emerges with a large backpack, returns to the red sedan, and drives off.

However, just as the burglars attempted to leave the scene, their car stalled, and they could be seen panicking for a few seconds.

According to one commentator, the theory here is that “the perps' car is probably stolen. You can see the car stalls, and they’re trying to figure out how to get it going again. The ignition was probably punched.”

After a bit of struggle, the burglars get their vehicle working and drive off. Looking at the Sentry footage, the red sedan does not have any front license plate, and from the back, Anuj stops the Sentry video; however, he says that “the car is driving too fast to see a license plate.”

The whole incident is unfortunate and can certainly happen to any vehicle; however, looking at the comments, people were surprised to see the Cybertruck’s glass break so easily.

According to Tesla, the Cybertruck has special “shatter-resistant” glass. During the Cybertruck delivery event, Elon Musk stated that the Cybertruck windows are rated to withstand a “Basell thrown at 70 miles an hour” or a class 4 hailstorm.

However, despite Tesla’s pronouncements regarding the strength of the Cybertruck glass, we have seen the vehicle's windows shatter pretty easily.

A Cybertruck owner even recently shared that “24 hours after he picked up his Cybertruck, his wife waved her hands and shattered the windshield with her wedding ring.”
