Tom Raynor is a Cybertruck owner from Atlanta, Georgia, and says everything in his life is going perfectly. He even adds that he recently got a new promotion, and his wife and new baby are doing fine.
However, despite all the blessings, Tom says the recent promotion is bittersweet because the new job is in London and that means he has to sell his Cybertruck.
Tom shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook.
Here is what he wrote…
“Well, today should be great. I got a promotion plus a 25% pay raise, and my wife and new baby are doing fine. Except the new job is in London, and I'm already having separation anxiety from my beautiful Cybertruck!”
A good job, a significant pay raise, and a healthy, happy family are all wonderful, but Tom says his life is not complete without his “beautiful Cybertruck.”
The distraught Cybertruck owner continues to write…
“The Foundation series is terrific, the best vehicle I've ever driven. Now, after only 4 months of ownership, I've got to sell it.”
Tom says he’s sharing his story to get advice from fellow Cybertruck owners in the group on how and where he should sell his truck.
Tom continues to write…
“Since this is a Cybertruck owners-only group, I thought I would ask if anybody sold their truck and what selling method you used. If you had to sell a Foundation Series, what price did you get for it?”
Finally, Tom concludes his post writing…
“I appreciate any feedback; I'm back to crying in my beer!”
It seems that Tom is really sad to part ways with his Cybertruck, and looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners suggested maybe he should give up the new job and the pay raise to keep driving his truck.
Fellow Cybertruck owner Nicole Rucker writes…
“I might turn down the promotion and 25% pay raise.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Tubb Taylor, seconds this sentiment writing…
“That might be a deal breaker. I never want to drive anything else other than a Cybertruck.”
This is certainly an interesting take. Let me know in the comments if you will pass up on a promotion and a 25% pay raise just to be able to drive your Cybertruck.
Another thing fellow Cybertruck owners were curious about was why Tom didn’t simply take his Cybertruck with him to London.
That is technically doable; however, what we’ve learned from other people who have tried to import their Cybertruck to the United Kingdom is that the process is long, costs tens of thousands of dollars, and the truck will need significant modifications.
First, all of the Cybertruck’s sharp stainless steel panels will need to be covered with plastic or rubber.
Also, the UK requires all vehicles to have amber turning lights; however, the Cybertruck has red turning lights, which need to be changed. This means the front and rear turning lights have to be replaced and reprogrammed to work with Tesla’s software.
The UK also requires a rear fog light and lights on the side view mirror, which all have to be added.
Overall, this process will be very long and tiresome, and it will be especially challenging for someone from the US.
Not to mention, the Cybertruck will be very difficult to maneuver in London’s famously narrow streets.
Given all these steps, Tom is better off simply selling his Cybertruck and getting another vehicle once he is in London.
And, at least one Cybertruck owner in the group agrees with this sentiment, saying Tom shouldn’t even worry about his Cybertruck given his happy, healthy wife, baby, and promotion.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Kristie Brazee, writes…
“As much as it stinks to give up your Cybertruck - it is just a vehicle. Your wife and baby are healthy, and you get to try a new experience living in the UK. That’s what matters. You can always buy one again if you come back. Just think how awesome they will be by then!
Congrats and best of luck to you!”

Beautiful Cybertruck? The only vehicle uglier than a Cybertruck is a salt-encrusted Cybertruck. I’ve seen a couple and I had to bleach my eyeballs.

Take having to give up the ugliest vehicle on the road as a blessing. It has a multitude of production issues everyone ought to stear clear of this ugly duckling.
