Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.

Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.

Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

If you have a Toyota with Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint that seems defective please tell us about it in the comments below. Detail your contact with Toyota and how the issue is being handled. Your experience may help a fellow owner.

I have a 2011 Toyota Highlander in blizzard white. Paint is peeling off in many areas and are very large. I contacted Toyota and was told that my vin number doesn't fall under any recalls/programs. I was told nothing could be done but if I get the paint fixed to keep my receipts. I am not going to pay to have my vehicle fixed when there is obviously an issue with the blizzard white paint. Just a shame... I had an appointment today to buy a 2021 Toyota Highlander Platinum in blizzard white... cancelling the buy and looking at other makes and models. Very Disappointing!!

I have a 2011 Highlander in BP that has the paint peeling in 4 different places. Tried to go through the dealership I purchased it from with no luck. Called #ToyotaUSA directly and we were told that “they respectfully declined our claim” even after the person had just got done telling my husband they were having issues with the BP in other models. The first spot where it started to peel is starting to look like it will rust. I refuse to spend money painting it when there’s obviously a manufacturing issue with this paint. Told the person on the phone we will drive this car until there’s not a drop of paint on it. Will also start posting pictures in social media. Free advertisement for Toyota!!!

I have a 2010 Toyota Prius with paint peeling on the roof, hood, and bumper. I was at the Toyota Collision Center in Irving, and the Service Manager said it was due to defective paint, but, unfortunately, it is still not covered by Toyota.

Same is happening to my 2011 Avalon. Blobs of paint bubble up and flake right off. Even if there is just a little breeze outside. This is not normal! Toyota needs to be held accountable.

I am having the same issue with paint peeling on my 2013 Highlander with blizzard pearl (070 code) paint. Now when I wash the car the paint flakes right off in certain areas. I called Toyota to complain and look for a solution only to be told that my car is not included in the recall so I am out of luck. Of course, this is not acceptable so we need to flood organizations such as Consumer Reports, AARP, and Toyota with complaints.

You’re not alone, Barbara, and unfortunately, we’re all getting the corporate run around. I started a Facebook group- TOYOTA BLIZZARD PEARL PAINT DEFECT in the hopes we can get enough ppl together to make a difference. Please join and share. Thanks!

YAHOO!! Thats awesome. What did you do to get them to fix it?? I need to do whatever it takes to get this settled in our favor. We have a tacoma and we've contacted them for over a year now. We have the Super White paint and it's peeling bad. That will definitely devalue the car for resale and at this point, we will no longer buy a Toyota. And we've had tons of them! I bought a Honda Dec 2019 as I was NOT buying a Toyota again. My daughters corolla's top and hood are awful and they won't fix because its red. Would appreciate any help. Thank you!

I took the car to Toyota service department and had them take photos of all the peeling areas. I called the corporate office and went through all the hoops with a complaint. The dealership sent the photos to corporate office and corporate said this model was not covered, but if they did get to that model, they would contact me, and I explained how much of a disappointment this was as a lifelong Toyota owner. I was surprised to see the letter, it was a long wait.

Peggy (not verified)    April 5, 2021 - 10:29AM

My husbands Toyota TACOMA has been peeling over a year now. A year ago he contacted them and of course it was just over warranty. So they would not take care of it. Kept contacting them - calling corp and they just say according to the VIN he is not eligible for a fix. This is ridiculous! We have had MANY Toyotas in our family - we have 4 kids. My daughters corolla top and hood peeled so badly. But it is red so no fix. Our tacoma is Super White paint. Same paint - wrong model to have it fixed. This will be our LAST Toyota.

2012 Toyota Sequoia runs great and looks awful. White paint has turned so chalky and porous that it appears that it has mildew spots. Detailer said it's a known issue with Toyota paint. 165k miles and was hoping to go another 100k+ but not likely with this situation.

2010 Prius V with the white paint peeling off in chunks off the A pillars and a few other places. Looks really bad. Dealer said it wouldn't be covered, and several thousand to have their body shop do it. That would mostly be blending on to existing paint that will also come off. Unreal. Shopping for a new hybrid, and are not even shopping Toyota because of this issue. Burn me bad, you don't get a second chance.

I have a 2011 Tacoma in Super White. Paint flaked off by windows, door wells, and on inner fenders in engine compartment. Called Toyota corporate twice and they said my truck does not qualify. So disappointing.

2010 Prius with 070 blizzard pearl paint huge areas of paint peeled off and more continuing. Dealer buzzed me off saying its out of warranty and not in the group of other Toyota cars that may get repainted . just a bunch of BULL..lets all get magnetic signs for our cars that says "this is toyotas original paint job". !!! great advertising for them

I have a 8yr old ScionIQ & my car looks like it’s snowing when I drive. Zero paint on the roof. Huge chunks came off like peeling an onion. I took it into the Toyota dealership I purchased it from & got zero help. A few body shops said there was something wrong but were reluctant to fix it, without further investigation first. My 18yr old son, who’s apprenticing in mechanics, found the information. The Toyota dealership by my house, helped right away. Pictures are now being sent to Toyota & we’ll see if they pony up to fix it all, or if they cheap out & only spot paint it. I’m not upset over the recall, but the dealership I purchased it from originally, knew there was an issue before they sold it to me. Not sure if I’ll buy a Toyota again yet. Jury’s still out.

I have a 2013 Highlander with the Blizzard Pearl. I use that car at our Florida home. Its in a garage. I came by to check on the house and do Spring cleaning and found my paint bubbled and flaked off at the top of the vehicle and around the windshield. Never seen that beautiful. Well, I guess it time to call Toyota.

I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander with Blizzard Pearl paint that is pealing. The Highlander is not mentioned on the extended warranty papers as having the same problem of pealing pain. I know that there are other highlanders with this issue. Please help!

My 2015 Highlander XLE Blizzard White is peeling on the roof. Why is the Highlander not covered? Is there anyone with the same car/problem?

Leslie Eisen (not verified)    May 1, 2021 - 7:31PM

I have the White blizzard 2010 Prius, the paint is peeling on one side of the car really fast. I made a claim with Toyota and they denied repairing it. They say they will repair Corollas but not Prius’s with the same color. What a disgrace to drive around with a peeling car. I have a 2006 Rav-4 blue without a problem I also have 4 other Toyota’s. Since 1996 I have had 11 Toyota’s and this will be my last! None ever had a paint problem not even with age except this white color, I wish they told me when I bought it to buy a blue instead of White pearl. I paid over 32k for this car, shame on Toyota the way they treat their customers.

I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma with 040 Bright White paint and have peeling, this is my 2nd Toyota we own will call customer service. Anyone else have this problem on Tacoma TRD Sport/

Vicki Raganella (not verified)    May 2, 2021 - 8:45PM

I own a blizzard pearl white 2016 Toyota Rav4. In January I noticed the front passenger side panel peeling. I took it to the Toyota dealership and they said Toyota Corp denied my claim. Of course I am disputing this because it is ridiculous that I received a letter from Toyota telling me this paint problem was a possibility and now they don’t want to pay to fix this? It’s been 4 months and still no progress in getting this fixed. So upsetting!(my car has only 25000 miles and looks new otherwise)

Vicki Raganella (not verified)    May 2, 2021 - 9:14PM

The paint on my 2016 blizzard pearl white Rav 4 is peeling. Brought it to Empire Toyota in Huntington Ny in January and they said Toyota denied the claim. The car has 25000 miles and looks new except for this peeling paint. Of course I’m fighting this. Ridiculous

I have a 2012 Toyota Highlander Blizzard Pearl and noticed a few weeks ago that the paint is chipping on the top of the roof (has never had damage and I have never used the roof racks) and it's also chipping around the windshield. My roof has about a 6" spot where I can now see the metal frame. So frustrated, I spoke with Toyota and they said the Higlanders weren't included in the recall and I could get this fixed at my own cost. So disappointed that Toyota has recognized this exact issue for other vehicles but won't cover the cost for the Highlander. In my research online I've seen other vehicles where the paint is chipping/peeling in the same exact spot as mine.

I have a 2015 Highlander with this paint issue but this model isn’t covered. Two Toyota dealers have agreed it should be covered but so far no corporate support.

Hi. My 2013 Toyota Highlander has the blizzard pearl color and has been affected by the paint chipping for an unknown reason. I took it to the dealer, but was told I have been told that “highlanders” do not qualify for the extended paint warranty.
