Chris is a brand-new Cybertruck owner from Tennessee and says he is not a fan of the truck’s looks, but he was won over by the truck’s performance.
A couple of days ago, Chris was driving next to a Tesla showroom when he saw a Cybertruck.
His first reaction was, “Yikes, that thing is ugly.” However, just as a joke, and because he had nothing better to do, he decided to test drive the all-electric truck.
However, after the test drive, Chris says something magical happened, and he was converted from a Cybertruck hater to a Cybertruck buyer on the spot.
Now Chris has a Cybertruck delivery scheduled for March 29.
The excited Cybertruck buyer shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.
He writes…
“Well, something weird happened to me this week. Driving by the mall and saw one of the Tesla Cybertrucks. “Yikes, that thing is UGLY,” I thought.
What moron would own that thing? But my wife and I were bored, so we stopped and did a demo to see how stupid it is because why not, right?
Well, I’m not sure what happened. Perhaps some Elon Musk witchcraft. I don’t know, I blacked out. Anyways I’m now one of the morons who owns that thing!
Transitioning from calling it an ugly vehicle to ordering a Cybertruck after just one test drive speaks volumes about Tesla's engineering.
However, in addition to the truck’s performance, Chris says he was so pleased with the test drive that he has even come to appreciate the Cybertruck’s unconventional exterior.
He continues to write…
“Seriously, it is an amazing vehicle, and I love the look.
Hard to explain, but you know once you drive it.”
So far, Chris says he’s happy with his purchase decision; however, he adds that he has some reservations, given the several recalls out for the vehicle and the ongoing anti-Tesla protests.
Chris writes…
“Obviously, buying a Cybertruck is scary with the recall and crazy lefties, but I’m so excited.
Massive upgrade over what I’m used to driving.”
This is all well and good for Tesla; however, one surprising point here is that even though Chris paid for the vehicle and the exact Cybertruc Tesla matched him to is on the lot, the EV maker still refused to let him take his truck home.
The truck was on the lot, and he paid for it. However, since Tesla has halted Cybertruck deliveries, he now has to wait until March 29 to drive his vehicle.
The issue is that a large piece of stainless steel can detach and fall off from the Cybertruck while on the road.
Six weeks ago, we reported that several Cybertruck owners had complained about a boomerang-shaped stainless steel component weighing 5 pounds and measuring 9 feet in length was coming off on the highway and could potentially harm other road users.
Now, Tesla has finally acknowledged the issue, filed with the NHTSA for the eighth physical recall of the vehicle, and paused deliveries until the issue can be resolved.
And because of this recall, Chris says he paid for his truck but wasn’t able to take it home.
Chris continues to write…
“The truck was on the lot, but delivery is scheduled for 3/29 because of the recall.
Decided on the 2025 AWD, non-foundation. Wanted a later VIN, I think I got a VIN around 67,000.”
Paying for a brand-new vehicle and being told that you can’t take it home because it has a defect is certainly an interesting response.
However, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners were pleased to welcome Chris into the group, even though he still technically doesn’t own a Cybertruck.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, John, says…
“Congrats on your decision. It really is not like anything else on the road.
You're buying into something quite unique and special.”
Another Cybertruck owner from Dallas, Texas, replies…
“Hey, we’ll take a convert! Welcome to the family!”
A third Cybertruck owner adds…
“This is proof that people who criticize the Cybertruck don’t know what they’re missing.”
Overall, looking at the comments, several Cybertruck owners were happy with Chris’s decision, noting that they, too, bought a Cybertruck for its technology and performance, regardless of its appearance.
