As nice as the Canadian people are, some are getting frustrated with the long waiting times for the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. We have already covered how long it approximately takes to get your 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid in the United States. However, our cousins up north are unfortunately feeling a little exacerbated after some folks in Quebec said that it took them forever to get their 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid even allocated to their dealers.
A user by the name of RAV4_Marc asked “Has anyone received his/hers 2022 RAV4 Hybrid yet? Has anyone got an allocation yet? I've been waiting for my 2022 RAV4 Hybrid XLE since August 17 (5 months ago) and I'm starting to think I might not have it before the summer.” This was posted on a forum called Rav4World.com.
Before we take a look at what some other Canadian owners said, remember that a dealer isn’t like a store you just walk into and buy a brand-new car. Especially a high demand mass-produced car. On average, a regional dealer might get let’s say 4 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrids per month and within a day all of them are gone. All 4 of those were either allocated to the dealer via Toyota, or they were on order through the dealer by the customer. Let’s take a look and see what some of the other owners said.
User Megafolie said, “Nothing on my side yet. My dealer told me (in November) that he expected to have the first 2022 models around March, but I expect April or May. It takes patience … but I'm still convinced it's the best choice for me so I'm willing to wait.” That’s about 5 months and still, his RAV4 has not arrived. That’s pretty long considering here in the U.S, just right below the Canadians, we get ours in just 3-4 on average.
Now, this is a little ironic considering that there is a Toyota plant in Ontario. According to sources, it was shut down for a few months last year and just recently came back up and is in production. Could this be a reason why Canadians and some northern Americans are getting their 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrids so late? Absolutely.
Interestingly, both plants closed in Ontario, and a lot of dealers either didn’t tell customers who were waiting, or they didn’t know themselves. So if the allocation is harder in Canada, why don’t Americans get their RAV4 Hybrids later than Canadians? So the RAV4 is produced in Kentucky and Canada. When the Canadian plant shut down, The Kentucky plant had to pick up the slack and send the RAV4s not only to Americans but also to the entire world. This made a huge backup in orders, even for Americans.
Now that the Canadian line is back, we should start to see fewer waiting times than we did at the beginning of the year. As of now, the average Canadian wait time is around 5-7 months. I have calculated this by taking all of the numbers from forums and discussions and getting an average. It’s even harder if you had put down a special order through your dealer. Special orders make allocations even harder and with this backup, you might not even get your special order at all. Check out our recent article on special orders to know more. I know we haven't a RAV4 on order, but try a 2022 Highlander Hybrid XLE. We ordered one last Nov and still nada. So, so frustrating. We had to rent one last Christmas for our trip and probably have to again for summer. Damage control is right as every time we contact the dealer we get the run around....

I ordered Toyota Rav4 LE Hybrid on April 16 2022, and im still waiting. Initially, Dealer told me that wait times should be 6 to 8 months. I talked last week and he said that we are serving customers from Late Jan 2022. so im expecting my car by Mid Nov 2022

I have ordered a 2022 Rav4 hybird Limited trim back in Early February 2022 through toyota dealer in Scarborough. My dealer told me the vehicle has been ordered however is pending fulfillment from Toyota. I still have not heard anything yet.

I too booked for a limited RAV4 hybrid in December end...still waiting ...my dealer said,it might come eventually,but not sure about the arrival time....last I heard was November XLE arrives in September....and he hasnt seen any limited or xse so far... please post if u received it

I ordered a RAV4 XLE Hybrid in June 2022 in Halifax and they are telling me about 1 year wait time. It will likely be a 2023 model.
Why is it that when I review dealership inventory in US auto dealerships they have numerous 2022 RAV4 Hybrids in stock, on the lot. In Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire... the list goes on.
It's not fair to Canadians.

On the wait list for a RAV4 XLE Hybrid in BC as of mid-August 2022. Told it would be a 18-24+ month wait and they tried to push me to an ICE RAV4 XLE with only a 4-8 month wait. Checked a few other Toyota dealers who said it would be closer to 12 months for the hybrid, but they are all demanding the xPel body treatment for $1995, Key Fob coverage for $495 and an additional tire levy of $125 which are all non-negotiable and my deposit would be non-refundable. I walked away from that dealer. This feels like the old undercoating scam. It is hard for the consumer right now. Hopefully it is closer to a year in the end then. These cars are made in Canada, which should help my cause shouldn't it?

Dealership communicates regularly but never with good news. My vehicle isn’t even on the production list which is released to dealers every 21 days. So frustrating

Ordered a rav4 hybrid limited back in March2022 and now at the end of November, still waiting. Had ordered a 2022 but was told that now it will be a 2023 and should be in the new year. Already waited 8 months!

Order Rav4 Hybrid Limited Mid Feb'22 in the lower mainland of BC
Initially old 6-9 months. at the 8 month mark checked in and all I could get was that there had not been an work order created at the factory.
Checked again in Oct (new salesman) I was 52 on the list of Rav4 at that dealership.
Checked in December , now I am 38 for all Rav4 and 9 for the Limited and it will definitely be a 2023
I will check again early Feb and see where things are.

I ordered a RAV4 Hybrid in April 2022, it’s now January 2023 and was told my order was cancelled for the 2022 model and I’m in the queue for the 2023. I don’t expect to see my new vehicle before December 2023.
