The large SUV segment is fiercely competitive, and the Jeep Wagoneer just received a huge boost from a recent J.D. Power survey. The J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study finds that Jeep Wagoneers rank first with their owners. The J.D. Power U.S. APEAL Study asks buyers for their reactions about their new vehicles, asking about styling, amenities and fuel efficiency.
“If you consider the broad range of vehicles that contributed to these results, it’s clear that creativity is baked into our existence as a company,” said Bill Kendell, senior vice-president of North America customer experience at Stellantis. “We know how to design and build engaging vehicles, so we’re going to continue developing that knowledge in pursuit of products that are even more inspired.”
The 2024 J.D. Power APEAL Study
According to J.D. Power, “The APEAL Study asks owners to consider 37 attributes, ranging from the sense of comfort they feel when climbing into the driver's seat to their exhilaration when they step on the accelerator. Vehicle owners' responses to queries about these attributes are aggregated to compute an overall APEAL Index score.”
The APEAL Study is a huge survey. The rankings for 2024 are based on responses from 99,144 owners of new 2024 model-year vehicles. The buyers were questioned after 90 days of ownership, so the owners had time to really drive the vehicles and find out what they liked or disliked.
The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer
It is easy to see why the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer did well on the survey. The Jeep Wagoneer has been well received since being brought back to life. Jeep needed a larger vehicle that families who love the Grand Cherokee could grow into. The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer offers roominess and cargo space that growing families want and need. The eight-passenger vehicle has received high safety ratings for performing well in crashes. The 2024 Wagoneer was rated “good” in key physical crash tests conducted by the IIHS and qualified as a TOP SAFETY PICK.
The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer has more than 130 standard and available advanced safety and security features. Available driver-assist technologies include Head-up Display, adaptive cruise control, drowsy driver detection and Traffic Sign Recognition.
A publication called PARENTS.com named the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer one of PARENTS Best Family Cars 2024. Parents.com praised the Wagoneer for its infotainment system. “In addition to the available climate control screen in the center row, 10” seat back screens can stream from a phone, a gaming unit or built-in Amazon Fire programming. Wireless headsets allow viewers in center or third rows to listen, and all of it can be controlled from the front seat.”
Helping Vehicles Retain Their Value
According to J.D. Power, vehicles with a higher APEAL performance retain their value at a greater rate than do those with lower APEAL performance. It makes sense that vehicles that are rated highly and liked by their owners are more popular and in demand. It is a great advertisement for a vehicle when you hear an owner rave about how much they like it or how well it handles. It is especially important if the owner’s family likes the SUV. Hockey and soccer parents drive to games all the time and believe me they talk about the time spent in the vehicle.
So far, the Wagoneer is holding its value. Jeep Wagoneer’s performance in APEAL complements its growing reputation for market value, as indicated in its two-year streak in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. ALG Residual Value Awards. If the Jeep Wagoneer continues to make its owners happy, it will have a great run as a versatile family vehicle.
