A Tesla Cybertruck owner who goes by the username “Cofree” on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum says he is worried his truck will be singled out for political violence once the election results are out.
Cofree explains why he thinks that’s a real possibility and brainstorms with other Cybertruck owners on how to make their trucks appear less political.
Here is what he wrote…
“The Cybertruck seems to have become rather polarizing politically... with the far left hating it for the Elon association "a giant MAGA hat," and the far right hating it because they believe it is a scheme to take away their freedom trucks.
With the election coming up, I'm concerned that the losing side (whichever that might be) might take it out on my Cybertruck and those inside. I'm wondering how to diffuse that.”
After this, Cofree gives out a list of customizations he could make to his truck to make it less triggering to the losing side. Here are some of the changes Cofree laid out who is a Colorado resident and an Australian citizen.
“* Maybe a custom license plate surround (i.e., customized text on a license plate holder)... but I'm not sure what message to put on it.
* Maybe set some lighting to the color of the losing side?
* Other options (magnets or bumper stickers or ??). Maybe a magnet with a flag of the country that I'm actually a citizen of to try to stay out of this whole US politics thing?”
Although Cofree is mainly concerned that the violence is likely to come from the losing side, he says that he would rather add a modification that makes all sides of the political spectrum happy, adding, “I would rather have one solution that is generally depolarizing than have to have a solution that promotes the other side.”
It’s surprising that Tesla vehicles, especially the Cybertruck, have become such a political statement. However, putting that aside for a bit, here are some of the ideas forum members provided to make the Cybertruck less depolarizing.
One Cybertruck owner, who goes by the username “Foundation Series Dude,” recommends: “wrap your tailgate with "POLITICALLY HOMELESS" in Cybertruck graffiti font.”
Another Cybertruck owner advises Cofree to get rid of his Cybertruck altogether, writing, “Just sell your truck.”
A Cybertruck owner from Pennslyvania doesn’t have any recommendations. Still, he generally expresses his dissatisfaction with the current state of things, writing, “It blows my minds that some people are stupid enough to not be able to differentiate their political stance from an object or have serious mental health issues to not be able to handle another person’s personal thoughts and feelings. Really surprises me that people are this full of themselves.”
These are some of the Cybertruck owners who have taken Cofree’s concerns seriously; however, on the other side, some forum members believe Cofree’s fears are overblown.
Pops from Huston, Texas, writes, “I think this is an irrational fear. You'll be just fine. But if you need an idea, I would recommend just putting an American flag on the tailgate. It's mostly neutral, and the vast majority of people here love this country.”
Another Cybertruck owner, “SCTesla,” responds to Cofree’s post, writing, "Just ignore it and live your life.”
These are some of the more serious recommendations; however, one forum member, CyberGus, jokingly recommends putting on a disguise on his Cybertruck, sharing the famous picture of a Cybertruck wrapped to look like a Ford F-150.
Overall, it’s surprising to see how political the Cybertruck has become. Let me know if you have recommendations for the worried Cybertruck owners in the comments.
