Toyota has announced a new customer support plan for vehicles with peeling white and blizzard pearl paint. The paint can degrade very rapidly. Some vehicles see the paint begin to come off in as little as one year. The problem affects nearly 2 million vehicles. Models included in the program include the Toyota Camry, 4Runner, Corolla, Avalon, Lexus GX, or Scion IQ or XB. The program will support you whether you are the original owner or purchased the vehicle used.

Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.
Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.
Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.
If you have a Toyota with Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint that seems defective please tell us about it in the comments below. Detail your contact with Toyota and how the issue is being handled. Your experience may help a fellow owner.

My 2019 highlander has the blizzard Pearl paint and I’m noticing tiny rust marks all over the side panels and I’ve only owned it for about 8 months. It was sold new to me last summer by the dealership - had never had an owner before - and I’m very concerned that it had sat on the lot because of the paint problems. I wish I had known about these paint colour problems before purchasing the vehicle!

2017 Toyota Corolla XLE. Blizzard pearl. Has been in 3 times over the last 4 years to repaint nearly every panel by now. Just noticed today more peeling on the roof, roof edge, a pillar edge and the sunroof is now pooling water on the corners of the outside edges. Sunroof operates fine and doesn’t leak.
Pretty annoying to have to keep taking it back in panel after panel.

I have a 2013 Highlander that is peeling in several places and they refuse to take care of it. I am losing faith in this generally well-trusted brand. I am on my 5th Toyota and it may be my last. I will let everyone know when they look at my peeling paint job that Toyota refused to make this right when it is clearly doing the exact same thing as every car model included in the warranty/recall. I did take it to the dealership and they agreed that the paint peeling was consistent with all the other white models that they are seeing. They told me to call corporate. Not very good customer service to put it back on the customer, especially when you know you have a recurring issue that you have already acknowledged. Maybe we should all post to social media. This is not right but I can refuse to ever buy another Toyota product as many car brands are catching up with them. Sorry support.

I have a Toyota camry and took it to the Toyoto Dealership and my car did qualify but this was in December last year and I was told that they would get to my car in 3 to 4 weeks and it is now April and they had not contacted me. They sent me a copy of the amount that it will cost and it had been approved but I haven't gotten any response. I was told they would only do the metal part and not the plastic but the plastic part is worst than the metal and my car will be two different colors and I have a big concern about this and I will be contacting someone because this is not our error.

Toyota Highlander 2015 with Blizzard Pearl paint. Called today because I was told last year that they would end up getting recalled very soon. Here we are months later & still nothing. Meanwhile the paint keeps chipping/peeling off. Ridiculous that they "can't do anything" because the current recall isn't for Highlander models. Reading through previous comments and seeing so many other Highlanders with the same issue and folks who have been calling numerous times with no resolution. We need to figure something out, get this shared more broadly. I bet Toyota will respond rather quickly then!

I have a 2017 rav4, the front quarter panel has 2 small paint bubbles. I called corporate and they told me it was a 1 time fix and they would only repair the 2 paint bubbles. I asked well what if a week after the repair I see more paint bubbles? I asked if this is going to turn into a revolving door having to take the car into have the bubbles fix every week. Her reply was oh no sir after the first fix its no longer covered! So I guess I will be waiting until I decide to sell it or the 14 year warranty is fixing to go out before I take it in for repairs. I can tell you this I will never purchase a Toyota again.

I own a 2014 Toyota Corolla

I own a 2014 Toyota Corolla with the white blizzard pearl paint. In early 2020, I noticed my paint peeling and was told by Toyota this would be fixed by my local dealership. I took the vehicle in and it was sent out to a third party to repair the paint. I was advised they would only repair the paint in the areas peeling and if it began to peel in other areas, I could bring the car back in and have the new areas repaired. It took one month to get my vehicle back (possibly due to the start of the pandemic) but it looked great. Fast forward to August 2021, and I noticed a spot of paint peeled off from the car's roof. I took it back to the dealership and they said I had used up all of the allotted "repair hours" and they would not fix the paint on the vehicle. The paint has now begun to peel on the doors as well. Multiple phone calls to Toyota has not changed this situation, and I was advised in their system the paint issue is listed as "repaired." I feel as though a full repair would include removing all of the faulty paint and repainting the vehicle. They also should have disclosed the limited number of man hours they allotted for the repair. I was contemplating buying a new Highlander but after this fiasco I could not stomach paying $50,000 to this company, instead I bought a new Ford Bronco.

2015 Corolla Eco started
Permalink
2015 Corolla Eco started chipping around the hood towards the beginning of 2020. During one of my services with Toyota I brought up the recall and was given the number to a 3rd party repair shop. I waited until the first week of January of this year 2022 to take my car to the shop where they took pictures of the areas that were chipping and said they would be submitting the claim to Toyota and should be getting a response within 3-4 weeks. I waited until mid march to call Toyota corporate as I had not heard back and was told I would need to contact the dealership but would send an email to them to have them call me back the next day. Waited 2 weeks until I got a call back from the customer relations manager who was ready to schedule a time for me to bring the car in. He told me the repair would take up to 10 days so I asked if I would be provided a rental in the mean time but he said he would have to get back to me as there is a shortage in rentals. Never got a call back so I called again and left a message mid May. Called again the following week and again was told he would have to look into coordinating a rental and would call me back the same day. And now 3 weeks later I called AGAIN and he didnt even know I went to the 3rd party shop and had the pictures taken. He wanted to call me back later to "look at the schedule" but I told him I was not going keep waiting and needed an appointment now. I dont even want to wait for a rental. He agreed and asked me to take my car tomorrow so fingers crossed it gets fixed!

I have had my ‘13 Corolla
Permalink
I have had my ‘13 Corolla paint touched up once in 2020, no issues with the process. However, because they only painted the 2 small spot peeled off of my roof, then rest of my car began peeling about a year later. Now ~40% of the hood is peeled off and each door has paint peeling. Took it to the dealership today and had issues due to the Toyota technician being unfamiliar with it and told me they couldn’t do it more than once (which made no sense considering they didn’t repaint the whole car the first time). I had to call Toyota customer service who then had someone from HQ call my dealership and explain to them that it doesn’t matter how many times they do it, they have to repair any peeling spots affected. I’m now waiting to schedule a date to have it repainted again.

I have the 2010 Corolla, it has no clear coat except for plastic parts. The hood is peeling, when I took it to Toyota, I was told the peeling was not in big enough pieces to be counted. It’s starting to rust, and looks like absolute crap. This was the third new Toyota we bought. Now the car has to be listed as bad condition when trying to sell it . We will have to take the loss for Toyota. This has definitely changed friends and family from going with Toyota. My daughter decided on the Honda Pilot, because she doesn’t want a car that will not be backed for Manufacturing problems.
So disappointed
I owned different Toyotas’

I owned different Toyotas’ and never had this issue before, and it was always my first pick. Until I purchased a new 2008 Toyota Highlander 4WD Limited edition with the Blizzard White Pearl paint. This Suv is very expensive and People should not have paint issues at all. It’s pealing off from the roof down on the back side. This paint from the factory is defective and should be taken care of by Toyota. I bought my car from Bev. Smith Toyota in Ft. Pierce, Fl. I brought it the a couple times and they told me about that my car possibly be covered with a recall that was in effect. Waited a while and the mgr. Never called me back. Went again, and again after no response, and told me after going back, that my car was not included on their list for a recall. It is frustrating that when you are buying a car at Toyota they hunt you down to buy a new car and promise the world for you to buy a good car from them. It’s disappointing that they do not back up their products ayer the sale, and only give you excuses when you need them the most. It’s even embarrassing using your car on the road and people can see the horrible paint pealed off on the whole side of my car. Toyota should think, “what message is Toyota sending to people about their products and paint jobs?” Toyota should own the problem and think of their customer service and quality of products. Even the very, very old cars, the paint was never this problem, not even faded. It’s 2022! With all the technology we have in days, this should not happen. If it happens, because nothing is perfect sometimes, then you own the problem and fix it, that simple. I need a new car one day, would you think that with this problem you would consider a new Toyota? It’s been a hard swallow. I hope Toyota take care of me, because other than that, I love my car. Thank you
