Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.

Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.

Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

If you have a Toyota with Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint that seems defective please tell us about it in the comments below. Detail your contact with Toyota and how the issue is being handled. Your experience may help a fellow owner.

14 Highlander in the white pearl, 070 code, and my roof(along the inside of the top plastic trim) has started peeling. Various other areas have what looks like damage in the clear coat.
I detail vehicles as a hobby and while a full claying, compound, wax DID help tremendously..
But the fact I've been doing this way since new, and still developed these noticable imperfections without cause sucks. Of course my vehicle wouldn't be included. 2 ecu's, multiple other warranties too since new, no recalls is good.. but damn

I have a 2015 Highlander XLE in white pearl and my trunk area is peeling so bad. I take care of my vehicle and it’s sad to see that our model isn’t included in the recall. I just got off the phone with a Toyota support person and they said there was nothing they can do as it’s also out of warranty. Completely disappointed in how they excluded Highlanders with the SAME PAINT COLOR.

I have 2013 Highlander blizzard white with paint peeling. I have confirmation from dealer that paint is peeling off (which they forwarded to Toyota) and NOTHINING! Don’t hold your breathe. If it happens, you probably won’t own vehicle any longer. Complete scum manufacturer!

Yes indeed. My 2013 Highlander doing same thing and along edge of hood by wipers. Crazy and weird. This is my second and most likely my LAST Highlander. Going with Subaru Ascent... in Spring of 2021. Heard very good things about them too. Sign me " ex Toyota " owner.

My 2010 Prius in Blizzard Pearl is having all of those issues, and every day more and more paint is peeling and bubbling. The car looks like it came from the dump. . I never even received a letter. When I called Toyota they said “Sorry. Your car is out of warranty.” I am not finished with this yet. And, sadly, I am unlikely to ever do business with Toyota again. My 50+ year old Volkswagen doesn’t even have this problem!

I have a 2012 Sequoia, paint is peeling in multiple areas. Saw this article and called my dealer and they said it would be covered only to be told after I got there that my car is not part of the fix. Called Toyota Customer Care only to get their canned answer that my car came with a 3 year/36K mile warranty and that had since passed and that fixing it would be up to me.

I have a 2004 Lexus GX470 and almost all the paint from the hood is gone and the roof as well. Lexus sucks and know there is an issue with the peeling paint and is dragging their feet. I know my car is 16 years old, but I put a complaint in with Lexus years ago when I noticed the 1st spot and nothing was done then.

I went to my dealer again last week. The service manager said he did not have my estimate from the body shop. He had previously told me over the phone that he had it twice and had submitted it to Toyota. What he said next knocked me for a loop: he said “I have to be honest with you. It takes hours to submit this to Toyota and we don’t make a dime off of recalls so I only get to them every couple of months. I have seven that have been sitting on my desk for months but my system for submitting them has been down for over three weeks.”

So it is apparent to me that Toyota has created an extremely burdensome system for service managers to interact with and the service managers themselves have no incentive to help customers get this fixed. Meanwhile we are stuck with vehicles whose resale value is crippled and we can’t even get out from under the burden of owning these turkeys.

Scott miller, I think that service mgr is feeding you a load of bs. I made one call to Toyota, they instructed me to call my local dealership. I called them, they told me to bring it in the next day to inspect the damage. One of the techs drove it to a local body shop- $1900 in repairs. Today, we dropped off the car, they provided us a rental. Told us it will be ready on Tuesday.
If I were you, I’d be blowing up the phone of Toyota. I’d explain the excuses the service mgr is giving you.

2006 Corolla Super White II (paint code 040), oxidizing horribly everywhere, and about 10% of the hood has peeled off, in dime-sized circles, to what looks like a primer-like layer (e.g. gray, not rusting).
Have not received any letter of coverage.

I LOVED Toyota, nothing else was an option. However, it is sad to find out their loyalty to their customers isn't a reciprocal relationship. This is my 3rd personal Toyota and without a change of policy on their part, my last.

Has anybody tried to trade-in their paint chipped vehicle with the dealer? Did the issue effect the value? I don't even feel like I cal sell my car at this point.

I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma super white 040 made in Mexico. Paint peeling on driver side rear door near window seal. I was told that there is a TSB but my truck doesn’t qualify! Same paint same primer same metal as other cars that qualify. Unbelievable that Toyota is not addressing this issue on all white vehicles! Hopefully we will have enough people complain and file class action lawsuits to get something done. Everyone please call Toyota USA and get a case number

Toyota rav4 white paint peeling got a letter last year but haven't heard anything lately

Adam Cloutier (not verified)    May 22, 2020 - 7:49PM

My 2011 Rav4 with Blizzard White paint is peeling in multiple places, mainly the gas tank cap cover, but also along a few edges. I got an email from Toyota telling me it should be covered by the local dealership (same place i bought it 5 years ago). They're giving me the runaround about it not being under warranty. Not happy about this. Sent them the email from Toyota stating that the issue should be covered. I was thinking about trading it in later this year for a newer Rav4, but if this issue isn't resolved I'll probably be done with any Toyota product.

2013 Highlander Limited paint started peeling took to a body shop and was advised by them it was bad paint to contact Toyota. Did a little google search and found this article. Naturally, Highlander isn't on the list. I called Toyota while the representative was very friendly she was unable to give me any additional information other that it's not covered. I asked if there was a way to petition etc. to get it covered and she said she would escalate my call for a call back. We have owned several Toyota's over the years and currently own two Highlanders. If they don't fix this situation we will no-longer be loyal Toyota owners.

I have a 2008 Toyota RAV4, Blizzard Pearl White!

Looks like this is a BIG Problem, The roof, Hood, Front Fenders, Rear quarter panels and all 4 doors are peeling in Large Areas.
This is a Great Vehicle, but it's looks TERRIBLE!
The Service Manager at Toyota of Tampa Bay, advise me of this warranty problem when I brought my vehicle in for service, so I contacted the Paint and Body department at this dealer, they took pictures and wrote a report. They said that they would contact me to schedule an appointment to have the RAV$ repainted, but I never heard back, so I contacted them 2 months later to find out when this would get done, they told me that we were denied the warranty repaint because our vehicle was NOT a Warranty issue, like I was told. The paint and Body Manager said this should have been covered but our vehicle was denied. The manager then gave me the number to Toyota of America to see what they say. I gave them my VIN # and said the RAV4 that I have is NOT covered under this WARRANTY ISSUE.
I email Toyota of America the report and picture that I received from the Dealer in Tampa, FL.
After 2 weeks, I received a reply, They have my issue on file and Thank for letting them know about the paint issue. They can't nothing about my paint problem!

If anyone can HELP me get this resolved, Please reply.
Thanks!

I have a 2012 Sequoia platinum that is starting to have paint fall off. I was told it's not on the recall list. It's blizzard pearl. Paint doesn't know what car it's on. Waiting to hear what Toyota will do

Amy (not verified)    May 28, 2020 - 2:58PM

I just bought a used 2012 toyota and the paint is peeling. I called my local dealership and they had me set up an appointment to have the paint inspected to see if it falls under the 'recall'. I'll update with any details.

Toyota has dropped the ball when handling this blizzard Pearl (070) peeling paint issue. Included every model but Prius practically. The problem is obviously a defect of the paint and/or process but Toyota vehicles painted other colors do not seem to suffer the same fate. I brought my 2010 Prius into the dealer and had it documented. Had Toyota Customer Experience (888-270-9372) open up a case number on it. I have a feeling if enough Prius owners insist, Toyota will have no alternative. The car needs to be entirely stripped and repainted!

I have a 2017 Sequoia! White paint peeling off the rear bumper. Toyota says it is past my warranty so on my own to repair. Seriously, a car in this price range 3 years old should not have paint peeling off!
